The pickled herring here was excellent: rich and flavorful without the strong fishy taste common to most. It definitely tasted ‘of the sea’ however. The onions also blended well with the fish. It’s a booth (as the name implies) that sits in a square near the Anne Frank house, and so is a great alternative if you are not near one of the other well-​known Herringkars. My wife has become a Dutch pickled herring convert after trying it at Herringkar «De Gigant».
