I was so excited to see a British store and I found a few of my favorite things in here like hot cross buns! I got a mixture of cakes that looked amazing and I selected the best looking box. I go to the cashier who the proceeds to put the cakes with icing etc on the top in the bag upside down?! Who the hell does that?! Idiot woman.

Walking down main shopping street in Amsterdam and all of a sudden there it was — Magic & Sparkles! But also sorta disorienting as all of us took a collective breath and were suddenly confused about which country we were in!
Still, it was super nice to wander thru a slice of Britannia and check out all the trimmings for Xmas (#Mince pies!!) However made a huge mistake when purchasing the cloudy lemonade — they now have a sugar free one, but that means aspartame (0₀) and we ended up throwing that half-​sipped bottle away.
I only checked out all the food located on level 1, saw the escalators but didn’t head upstairs.

I love popping by to get my favourite scones or a ready made meal if I’m feeling lazy. They have a pretty decent selection of ready made meals but are lacking in the bakery and grocery aisles. The store is quite small and it can get very crowded very easily so if at all possible I try to avoid the after work-​before dinner rush time. What is nice is that it’s open later, almost like a real grocery store!

I grew up with M&S and have reviewed it once already so might be a little bias as a fan! Amsterdam Christmas lights are already up and walking passed I thought I’d pop in and peruse their Christmas offerings which are many! I left with the London telephone box Scottish shortbread as a gift along with other classics like walnut whip and Percy pig and the prosecco and winter berry crisps with edible gold stars (!!) for me. These were weird in a good way with a bit of a popping candy effect and raspberry taste. I will be getting these again!

Or as a friend calls them: Marks Expensive! haha
Indeed it is overpriced, but I love their products and promotions. I highly recommend the roll cakes (the lemon curd and chocolate ones are awesome) which are constantly in a «3 for 2» sale, their tea cakes, and biscuits.
There are a lot of takeaway, freezer/​fridge-​friendly ready meals, and juices options, and you can easily find very British things like double cream or cream tartar for your recipes.
Expensive, yes, but worth a visit. And seriously: get the roll cakes!!!

I am such a fan of this place, there’s always a packet of M&S goodness in my home (be it crisps, biscuits, candy.) because let’s be honest here, what good is hoarding all of the delicious food to yourself when you can share it all and create other M&S food monsters?
My favourite things to buy here include (but are not limited to):
— Lemon and lime curd yoghurt
— Ginger and honey yoghurt
— Millionaire’s Dessert (and let me tell you what it’s made up of: shortbread, toffee sauce, double cream, caramel mousse and chocolate ganache)
— Prawn cocktail crisps
— Extra Virgin Olive Oil Houmous (get the full fat stuff!!!)
There’s a good chance I buy one or all of these things every time I visit but I try to limit myself to only 1 visit a week. because well, I tend to get a bit carried away and buy too many things. It’s especially tricky when they have their deals on. So why would I only buy 1 when I can get 4!!! And 30% what? Sure, I’ll take 12!
The prices are a little on the higher side which I don’t love but honestly, they carry some incredibly delicious things that I just can’t help myself.
And when I’m feeling guilty, their gluten free selection is actually some of the best that’s available in Amsterdam. Even if you’re not coeliac, their cheese puffs and ginger snaps are my favourite!
So for all the English looking for a bit of home, it’s (mostly) all here! Or if you’re just looking for a bit of variety outside of the regular Albert Heijns and Dirks of Amsterdam. don’t walk! Run!

Als ich am letzten Tag meines Amsterdam-​Besuchs durch die Straßen lief sah ich Marks & Spencer. Kurz musste ich überlegen, woher ich den Laden kannte. Aus England natürlich. Das Angebot ist klasse. Wer an einem vorbei kommt, sollte alleine wegen des Angebots mal rein.
Hier kann man eigentlich alles kaufen. Zugegeben es ist nicht ganz günstig. Zum Beispiel kann man ein Mirkowellen-​Curry für 13 € kaufen. Ob es sein Geld wert ist, weiß ich nicht. Ich habe mir an diesem Tag ein Sandwich, ein Chipstüte und ein Getränk gekauft. Das gab es als «Menü”-Angebot für 6 €.
Das Sandwich war super. Es lag nicht nur ein Baconstreifen drauf, sondern eine gute Portion. Gäb es so ein Laden in HH, würde ich hier vermutlich öfters hin.

5 stars for bringing good cheap processed food to Amsterdam. YOLO and what better way to live than by eating those delicious shortbread cookies or cakes or eclairs or frozen ethnic cuisine. Heck, they need to better utilize space by tearing apart the limited garments section and bring more food.
Did I say this — best place in Amsterdam to get Indian naans? Yes, no more will I have to endure the classless naans sold at Marqt or AH. These things here are pure class and style. I dig the peshawari naan! They also have awesome precooked food when you’re feeling lazy, but sadly not much of a vegetarian selection.
Staff is cool. Location could have been better, like close to home.
Now, excuse me as I plan my weekend dinner, err, naan.

it’s like being back in Whiteleys shopping centre back in Bayswater with all the British style food you can eat and carry home. And the cooking instructions are in English which makes it almost too easy.

I like M&S quite a bit because they offer different items! I’ve tried some of their soups and they are very tasty and seem healthy. I also like the nice packaging for different cheeses, chocolates, and snacks. Almost everything I’ve tried from here has been nice and not something I can find at the regular grocery stores in Amsterdam.

It’s very dangerous to go in here without wasting a lot of money on delicious food! They have great packaging, nice meals, pies, sweets, cookies and other foods! With good quality! I love m&e! Totally hooked!

I strolled in here on my way going to another store. I am from Cali, so I have no clue about Marks & Spencer, but it seem like a cool little British market or convenient store. I like the style and quality of the shop. I wish this store was in my neighborhood. I was in a rush but I will make sure to return back to check out their tea selection. Also they have a nice little boutique shop included that I think women should check out. They have some nice cardigan sweaters for the winter.

Happy that there is a Marks & Spencer in Amsterdam BUT they don’t have my favorite part… the bakery with all the cookies and shortbread and stuff :-(
Unless I missed something, tis has got to be one of the smallest Marks & Spencers that I’ve ever seen (Including other locations outside of the UK). This place is mostly just about the food (very small women’s clothing section in the front corner) This is fine with me because the food part is the only part I care about anyways but even though the food hall is an ok size, I think it’s still quite small compared to their other stores.
That all being said, I am really glad that a store like this opened in Amsterdam. I feel that while there is good food in the Netherlands, the variety is not all that great, the opening of this store just changed that a bit for the better.

I was thrilled to discover Marks and Spencer was reopening its doors in Amsterdam after a painfully long absence. When I’m in the UK and go shopping at M&S, I would get jealous and almost angry that we didn’t have places like this in Amsterdam — Dutch supermarkets have greatly improved over the years, but for we foreigners, shopping can still be a frustrating experience — and though places like Albert Heijn have expanded their selection, I personally find most of it inedible or bland and I keep buying just the same few things that I find palatable. I wasn’t expecting much of M&S Amsterdam, to be honest, but once inside, I was delighted to discover that they carried practically all the things I like from their UK food hall! I almost felt like I was dreaming and even in shock for a moment. A friend who visited on the weekend said they were practically sold out of everything and people were stocking up as if preparing for a Nuclear bomb attack — they just couldn’t believe this stuff was available and were panicking that it might be gone by Monday. The prices were decent as well– not double the UK price which can happen a lot with imported food. So there are a lot of happy expats in Amsterdam this week. If you’re frustrated with Dutch supermarkets, would like a little more variety to supplement your grocery shopping, or are already a fan of M&S, definitely come for a visit if you can. I recommend visiting on a weekday afternoon, as on the weekend, it’s a madhouse with people possibly coming in from all over the country (ok, it was opening weekend, but i expect the trend to continue). l didn’t check out the clothes area, as my understanding is it’s more of a mail order scenario (salespeople have ipads and you browse and order). But a huge flagship store is on its way on 2015, so I expect we’ll have a proper M&S clothes store and an even bigger food hall then. The only downside is that the aisles are a bit thin so if its crowded, it’s a bit difficult to navigate the store (though this is true of most Dutch shops due to lack of space) — and they close at 7pm on weekdays (except Thursdays for «koopavond» at 9pm and Sunday at 6pm — which is a bit early, but that’s possibly due to The Netherlands’ antiquated laws regarding opening times. But I can overlook any small inconveniences due to the fact that it’s so great to have a Marks and Spencer again in Amsterdam! And it’s just a few minutes walk from my work :-)

When this store opened last week I went there immediately! And I was very happy to see all the delicious products! Marks&Spencer’s is really gonna save me some money on breakfast/​brunch/​tea outdoors. With the delicious English muffins, scones, biscuits, tea and pies I will recreate perfect English meals and teatime in my own living room!
Also, if you want a tasty healthy lunch; the rainbow salad! DELICIOUS! And very low-​cal.
Prices at M&S’s are quite alright. I spend less money than I expected.
