‘t Fornuis

Bei der Vielzahl der Amsterdamer Restaurants, die in vielen Fällen oft genug ein mieser Touristen-​Nap sind, ist es nicht leicht ein gutes Lokal zu finden.
Het Fornuis wiederum hat aufgrund seiner Qualität und dem entsprechenden Preis-​Leistungs-​Verhältnis fünf Sterne verdient!
Allgemein
Das Lokal wird in gemeinsamer Freundeshand betrieben und einer der Besitzer ist immer anwesend und sehr um das Wohl der Gäste bemüht. Nach mehrmaligen Besuchen entsteht schnell ein familiäres Flair.
Ambiente
Die Ausstattung und das Flair sind traumhaft. Der größte Teil ist holzvertäfelt und auf zwei Emporen finden sich selbst in den kleinsten Winkeln noch Sitzplätze. Die Dekoration von Blechschildern passt zum dunklen Holz und werden von einer angenehm gedimmten Beleuchtung in Szene gesetzt.
Service
Der Service ist in Ordnung. Zeitweise arbeiten junge Aushilfen dort, habe dahingehend jedoch noch keine größeren Katastrophen erlebt.
Essen
Die Gerichte basieren auf der französischen Küche und sind entsprechend der Fasson des Kochs durch andere, internationale Einflüsse abgewandelt. Nach mehrmaligem Essen in Het Fornuis gibt es neben einigen, dauerhaften Gerichte auch wechselnde Gerichte, die die Speisekarte beleben und zum erneuten Besuch motivieren. Neben a la Carte Gerichten gibt es ein drei Gänge Menü für 27,95 Euro pro Person, was für das Preisniveau Amsterdams (auch hinsichtlich der Qualität) sehr gut ist.
Die bisher dort gegessenen Speisen waren alle vorzüglich angerichtet, geschmacklich absolut stimmig und von der Menge weder zu viel noch zu wenig.
Hinsichtlich des Menü-​Angebotes ist die Preis-​Leistung absolut lobenswert und lässt einen Abend in Amsterdam gelungen ausklingen!

Our search for a reasonably priced French restaurant in Amsterdam was rewarded by dinner at ‘t Fornuis (The Stove). We went on the late side (for Amsterdam) and practically had the place to ourselves. A pity, because ‘t Fornuis ought to be on any visitor’s must try list.
All five of us had the set menu, three courses at EUR 26.75. The food is solid country French with a Moroccan influence. Several of us started with a ground lamb slider with merguez. It was outstanding, both the fragrant burger and the spicy sausage. Other starters were a salad with chicken and prosciutto and a goat cheese in puff pastry.
My wife had B’stilla with chicken as her main. It was puff pastry with fruit, vegetables and spices — what one of my kids called a Moroccan hot pocket. It was great. Others had lamb shank or steak, all brilliant. We had a very reasonably priced Burgundy from the relatively brief wine list (it’s taped to a wine bottle — very cool).
Short dessert menu, but all were tasty. They do as good a job making ice cream as they do puff pastry, which is to say very well indeed.
Service was knowledgeable and attentive, possibly because (I think) our waiter was one of the owners. The place has a Swiss chalet look and feel, which has nothing to do with the food. I guess it’s a Dutch thing. In any case, ‘t Fornuis is highly recommended.

A friend recommended this restaurant. I had a great evening thanks to my guests, the good food, the nice atmosphere, and the spontaneous service.
Not everything is really professional, that’s why I probably have read some mixed reviews. The employees were spontaneous, but also young and inexperienced.
The food was great, but sometimes too salty (sauce of the prawns).
The restaurant looked very ‘cozy’, but in the corner near the toilet, it was messy, and I can’t appreciate a toilet without soap and with a old fashion cotton towel.
Nevertheless a good experience thanks to the nice staff and the good atmosphere. I’ll be back.
You can have a great meal and drinks for € 40 a person.

Von der Dame an der Hotel-​Rezeption wärmstens empfohlen, ging ich in das ‘t Fornuis. Und ich sollte es nicht bereuen, denn
Zur Begrüßung gibts ein kleines Brot, frisch aus dem Ofen, mit Butter. Damit lässt sich gut die Zeit bis zum Menue ‘t Fornuis überbrücken. Dann Vorspeise: kleiner Lamm-​Burger mit Chorizo und Salat mit Joghurt-​Knoblauch-​Dressing. Sehr lecker. Schon der Geruch war sehr verheißungsvoll. Das Pfeffersteak zum Hauptgang war auf den Punkt und für einen Menü-​Hauptgang auch recht groß. Zudem gab es noch verschiedene Beilagen: Kartoffel-​Gratin, Spinatküchlein, Fenchel und Bohnen und der krönende Abschluss: weißes Nougat-​Parfait mit Karamell. Wow, das war lecker!
Das Restaurant ist gediegen, aber nicht steif. Nicht modern, aber auch nicht altbacken. Und alles ist in 1-​A Zustand. Der Service ist hervorragend, sehr aufmerksam und freundlich.
Und wer nun denkt, dass es ein teures Restaurant ist, der irrt. Für Amsterdamer Verhältnisse fand ich es sogar günstig, erst recht wenn man bedenkt, welche Qualität (und auch Quantität) man bekommt. Das 3-​Gänge Menü kostete 26,90EUR, was absolut okay ist. Bei den Hauptgerichten waren bis auf 1 – 2 Ausnahmen alle unter 20EUR.

My friends and I were walking around trying to find a place to eat and stopped as we looked in the windows of this place. The interior loured us into the restaurant and we were then trapped by the smell of the food and found ourselves sitting down. Inside the restaurant the ambiance is historic, floor to ceiling wood, cozy and inviting. The staff also welcomes you with smiles and is very friendly. The menu offers French food selections, made up of several different three course menu choices which vary by price. Every three course meal starts with a fantastic home made rustic brown bread served fresh and warm with great butter. That was gone in a blink. The rest of the meal was fantastic as well. Everything was superior. They also have a nice wine selection.

We were walking around Rembrandt Square. A local recommended us to try the best tapas restaurant called La Pata Negra. We couldn’t find that restaurant, so decided to try this restaurant.
The menu looks pretty french. Like duck confit, escargot, etc.
I ordered tomato pumpkin soup, steak and all french dessert they have.
I don’t like that soup. It tastes too sour.
The steak is good. tender.
The dessert is fantastic. I ordered all 3 dessert. they all taste so good.
