We ate here on dec 31st. Thank god they were open. We ordered the tom yum soup and the chicken potstickers as an appetizer. The soup was way too thick and really lacked flavor, even though it was really spicy. The pots tickers were average at the best. The beef tipan with vegetables was excellent. Tons of veggies and meat. Enjoyed the ‘babi spek’ and tausi chicken. Very generous portions. They gave us free coffee and tea. As well as some free candy and a calendar to take home. Our waitress couldn’t be nicer. Looks like the main courses are a lot better than the appetizers.

I ate at Woo Ping with four other people last week and we enjoyed a very filling meal for a reasonable price with excellent service and attention to detail. For appetizers we had vegetarian«loempia» which rather thqn being eggroll size are more like deep fried chinese burrittos! They were huge and could easily be shared by two people. While very filling they were mostly filled with beansprouts and carrots so weren’t exactly burting with flavor. For main course we had a variety of dishes from vegetarian chinese fried noodles to Peking duck(not served in the NY style with the skin sliced separately accompanied by pancakes scallions and hoising sauce, but rather family style: a dozen slices of whole duck, bones and all on a bed of vegetables. The duck was juicy and tasty and is recommended. Also the egg dish we ordered was tasty, but be careful if you’re vegetarian, as it was brought to the table with diced chicken on one side of the egg and dice pork on the other side! The lamb dishes were good but there’s a high proportion of sauce to meat, so make sure you have rice to absorb all of that. If you don’t want ham or shrimp in your fried rice or noodles that accompany all the dishes make sure you say so WHENYOUORDER, otherwise you’ll be waiting another ten minutes while they make up your side noodles or rice without the pork or shrmp. Overall, I would recommend Woo Ping as a fine place to eat dinner close to the Breestaat. If you’re so inclinced there is a small coffeeshop«The Leidseplein» just a few doors down from it.
