After being on the road in Asia and Europe for several months, my burrito cravings reached a level 10 on the Richter scale, and I sought out some help from Dos Tacos. Whereas in the US, you are frequently given a refillable trough-sized basket of tortilla chips as a free starter, here you are given 5 chips in a condiment cup. I actually appreciated not being tempted to junk up on 1000 calories worth of chips before the main meal arrived, but the chip starter here was a little paltry. And the chips seemed unappetizingly greasy. I opted for the chicken burrito, and it comes to you somewhat griddled and toasted, to be eaten with knife and fork, rather than as a soft wrap. The chicken itself was delicious, but there seemed to be little in the way of beans, and lots in the way of peppers and cheese. Again, as with the chips, the grease factor was high. Ultimately I enjoyed what I was eating, although it didn’t fully satisfy the burrito yearning that brought me there. The staff on a weekday afternoon, before the dinner rush, seemed nice but, inexplicably, a little harried. This place doesn’t seem like the best choice if you are in a hurry.

The food is good, and tasty, there are some really interesting choices of salsa. They should consider though to serve a bigger plate of appetisers(chips and salsa). The last time I went there I had some chicken quesadilla, and it was delicious. My friend had a chicken burrito, and I also liked it a lot. But to be fair the size of the meal could be a little bigger, since my friend who’s a man, didn’t feel it was enough for him to feel satisfied. The staff is nice, but really slow. But the good thing the waitress warned us about the really hot sauce, because I’m allergic to very spicy foods, and that’s helped to avoid an awkward dangerous situation. There are some places to sit downstairs, and that’s good, because it’s a popular restaurant.

Let’s start with the bad so we can end on the good. Service — maybe not so bad just ‘different’. As in ‘old style’. Definitely the hands off approach. It wasn’t the worst but once again the ability to read the table wasn’t there. Isn’t it obvious, empty glass = guest probably wants another drink. So why do I need to flag the server for this? Also, my dish came with sauces. Great. But I didn’t know, and the server didn’t ask. So this lead to some confusion. But the worst was that one of the sauces was habenero. The server didn’t warn us and all the other sauces are super mild. So, it made sense to try this new sauce on the rice. Of course what happened next was intense burning on my lips and mouth. Wtf!!! Warn your guests that the orange sauce is really hot. I’m from Texas and I know spicey foods. It’s stupid to have a salsa so spicy whilst the others are so mild. Had we been warned, my intense discomfort would have been avoided. The good– chips and salsa. Great chips. Really, the best in the city. The best margarita– every other restaurant: margarita = martini. In Texas, margarita = mixed drink. I don’t like martinis. The food wasn’t bad. Don’t order the quesadillas: too small for the price. The fajitas looked good and were served well. My burrito was good too. So, not bad but the incident with the habenero salsa is something that really pissed me off. So 3 stars.

You’ll be able to tell from the other reviews how amazing the food is here and they’re no joke. Coming from Houston, I’m pretty much a Mexican food snob, and this was amazing. Hands down, the best Mexican food I’ve had in Europe. Homemade chips, tortillas, salsa, margaritas… Nothing will disappoint. Disclaimer: menu only in Polish/Spanish and it might be useful to make a reservation.

Best Mexican restaurant in Warsaw, period! Coming from Mexico, and after visiting several places in Poland, I can tell dos tacos is legit Mexican(not tex-mex, don’t get confused). It is important to know what to ask: cochinita pibil, nopales, and guacamole are a must. Also, I found it less pricy than other options in touristy areas, so I’d say it is $$ not $$$

After exploring 5 – 8 «Mexican restaurants» in Warsaw, dos tacos is the most traditional Mexican(not Tex-Mex”) we have been able to find. Tacos are flavorful and serve on soft corn tortilla, as Mexican culture suggests. Nopales are a delicacy and beans soup tastes like home. Strongly recommend the«michelada» if you are willing to try spicy Mexican beer. Best part: our waitress spoke excellent Spanish and English. Oh! Beware of «kids parties» as it can get very noisy. I suggest to call ahead and make sure no kids parties have been schedule.

At first I was skeptical. It’s hard to find good tacos in Warsaw. Yet, I enjoyed Dos Tacos more than any other sit down Mexican themed restaurant in Poland so far. What I ate: The Special Dos Tacos Plate for Two — a wide sampling of most things on the menu. It included: fajitas, enchiladas, Beef ala Arrachera, tacos, quesadillas, salad, rice, potatos, five different kinds of salsa, black beans, and both corn and flour tortillas. — Out of breath just listing everything. All of this was for 97 zloty(rather steep for tacos — but then again we are several thousand kilometres from Mexico and America — so whatcha gonna do?) and was enough for two Mega Taco Fans to be overly full and satisfied at the end of the meal. The best part of the meal was the tacos and the quesadillas. So if I were to suggest a solo option I would recomend either. The enchiladas were a bit weak — but I can’t get a pair of roastbeef enchiladas from my childhood out of my mind’s belly and when the bar is set that high, everyone else is just setting themselves up to fail. I’d say you’d be pretty safe with any kind of taco you’d want to choose — be it chicken, beef or pork. The meat is marinated and the tortillas are made properly. The quesadillas were tastebud flirtatious — I think we had half grilled chicken and half mushroom — i’d go for the grilled chicken it was savory, cheesy and spicy — fiesta in my mouth. The couple of details that sets Dos Tacos apart : 1) the nachos — they’re obvioulsy tortillas cut up into trinagles and deep fried. What they are obvioulsy not is Biedronka nachos — which is what they serve everywhere else — including pretentious high-end steak restaurants in gentrified Warsaw. It’s a sad day when I see pretend Doritos poured out of a plastic bag and put into a fancy dish to be served alongside craft beers, which means they are marked up past 5 ztly a portion. 2) the salsas — Made properly, which is a miracle in this city. The best combo would be the salsa verde and roja with pico de gallo and guacamole. The chipotle salsa was a bit smoky for my taste(although it’s supposed to be), and the spiciest salsas were only slightly disappointing — habanero and… Apple? Now, it says orange on the menu but I could swear she said apple. …Apple? What? I mean it worked… but I kept repeating the world apple in my head like a confused Prince Charming — She bit a what? An Apple? Apple? Now she’s asleep and won’t wake up? Because of an… APPLE? An Apple? Really? Maybe Pineapple? No? Apple? Huh. 3. Sour Cream — I know what you are thinking and I don’t care. I’m American and I loves it. The couple of details that lost Dos TAcos the Fifth Star of Awesomeness: 1) The cheesy interior — so colorful so mural so wow so painful on my eyes — and what’s with the bamboo railing? Is it left over from something? I had to have a conversation with the person I was with about whether or not Bamboo grows in Mexican Jungles. I don’t want to have that conversation. 2) My drink — I ordered a Bloody Mary and I got one with tequila — which ultimately was made properly but it tasted like the times in my childhood when I was endlessly dragged around DIY Home Improvement Stores by my parents. There was something industrial and laquery about it. Probably just me. Go for the frozen Margaritas — they look awesome and come in a variety of flavors and colors. I still miss American Tex Mex, and this doesn’t exactly hit the mark, but I suppose for now that I can rest easy knowing that there is something like Dos Tacos around the corner.

Maybe I had a lot of expectations, maybe it was because my Mexican friends were always suggesting me to eat their own food but… to be honest, I thought it was better! I mean, the food was tasteful but for 35zl I expected to eat something more. If you go to the Italian Restaurant I am pretty sure you will be more satisfied ;) Anyway, waiters were cool with us and they prepared everything faster.
