Solid Puerto Rican food. The mofongo is really good here. Decently priced and excellent service. A great stop for lunch!!!

While driving around site seeing we found this place on Unilocal we got there at 3:30 they closed at 4. They didn’t mind staying open later for us the chief is from Ohio, he has worked in many great places. His monfongo was by far the best I had eaten the whole time here in PR. We really wanted the homemade donuts but we were way too full to get them so if your in the area stop in and have a really great meal. I think if he changed the name to something like his name it would be more appealing. We also drove by thinking it was just a bar not a restaurant usually Good Time you would be thinking of a bar. Just a suggestion

I was told the Mofongo in this place was exceptional, so I tried it. Hands down it’s the best Mofongo I’ve ever had with sauces to die for. Lo mejor de lo mejor, in a simple tasteful fun atmosphere.

I tried mofongo at several places during our week stay and hands down this was our favorite! The wait to get your food is a little long, but worth it! The chef makes each meal to order and you can tell with your first bite! I am a fan of the garlic mofongo but my husband ordered the red sauce so we could try it, it was delicious too!

One of the best mofongos I’ve had. But the wait was very long. When we waked in it took about 20 minutes just to take our order(we ordered food and drink together) and almost an hour and a half for the food to come out. On top of that we had to wait for our drinks to come after the food was out. I felt somewhat sorry for the girl working because they appeared to be extremely understaffed. But it was clear that everyone in the restaurant was a little uneasy about the long wait. That being said, once the food finally arrived, it was great. I ordered a chicken and skirt steak mofongo, which tasted so good I will be back despite the wait. Also the waitress was very friendly and helpful despite the stressful situation.

Went here when I was in PR last year. Had mofungo several times before I came here, and it was… fine? I liked it, it didn’t wow me. This place did — the mofungo was so rich and saucy, rather than dry, and this made it incredibly flavourful. Highly, highly recommended.

My wife and I went here for lunch one day and it was fantastic! We had chicken & sausage in garlic sauce with mofongo and rice. The sausage was soft and had great flavor, the chicken was moist and tender, the rice was very good and my wife loved the mofongo. The chef came out and talked with us a bit, asked where we were from, how the food was, he was very kind. Side note, some plates can be a little pricey but you can split/share, there was plenty of food.

Oh My Goodness!!! I have had mofongo in over 10 towns across Puerto Rico and Good Times is by far the best in terms of quality, taste and service. If I could give this place 10 stars, I certainly would. We stumbled upon this place after my wife and I went on a cave escursion. Our first impression was a bit skeptical because we went on a Wednesday evening, and the place was not very busy. However, Mike, the owner and Executive Chef was beyond patient and went through the entire list of Mofongos, all 70+. Yes, if you are looking for any variation of mofongo in PR, you are likely to find it on the menu. After receiving our order, our jaws dropped. And after consuming the entire portion, we were left amazed at the quality of food. Thanks Mike! And I want to recommend that everyone in PR should visit Good Times restaurant in Arecibo!!! We will be back in March.

Looking from the outside I would never guess how good this place could be. The chef seems to be the Wizard of all Sauces! I would consider just eating his sauces with plain rice! Try the fried cheese with guava sauce to start. Delicious and I never tried anything like it. We then ordered the lobster Thermidor which tasted great in this creamy stroganoff-like sauce with mushroooms. Again, never tried anything like it before. My wife ordered a pepper steak which also comes in a rich and delicious sauce, maybe a bit on the salty side. Don’t miss this restaurant!

Was finally able to eat here last week, couldn’t figure out their opening hours but worth the wait! The food is awesome! Try the fried cheese app with guava salsa — it was flavorful without being greasy. The mofongo and skirt steak w French fries were equally delicious! Will return soon!

Just left this place. Amazing Mofongo. Try the Cerdo KanKan for you pork lovers. Its worth the drive to Arecibo. Chef Mike is an amazing owner/operator. Also try the Homade Donut Zapps. Its a combination of Chinese donuts and churros with a caramel sauce. Their food is legit.

Mofongo, Mofongo, Mofongo, need I say more! I have eaten plenty of Mofongo on this beautiful island of Puerto Rico and looked on Unilocal for a place nearby and found«Good Times» Restaurant. The place is easy to overlook as it is on a busy highway and on the same block with other small businesses. It is easy to find if your are looking for it, the front is small and has cute landscaping. As soon as we enter we are greeted by a waitress and the Chef/Owner Mike Mahon! It was early afternoon and place was empty but it felt just right and welcoming, clean and not freezing cold. I feel like all places in PR are very overly air conditioned. I liked the interior design of the place, Simple and Chic! We spoke with Chef and we asked him for advice and went with the seafood Mofongo with criollo sauce! It came out hot and steaming! He had said it was big enough to share and I can tell you it was enough for four people! Husband and I ate to full and then they graciously put the rest in a take home container. At home my mom ate and my two Cousins! Everyone loved it! The price for the Mofongo and sides was 55 $! Will definitely go back and sample other delights. Definitely a great place!

Service was a 3, food was a 5 — 4 stars it is! A group of us were in Arecibo to visit the caves and Unilocal recommended this place. Easy to find, parking along the alley outside. We were seated in about 20 minutes in a half full restaurant. It seemed that a single girl was working our table of 11 and a few others. She was stretched thin, but very kind! Our group had a sample of everything on the menu. We ordered a couple queso frito y salsa, we LOVED them. Could have made a meal out of those. I had steak mofongo($ 14) with garlic sauce that was delicious! Very filling, two of us are from my plate and we had leftover. Others had chicken gyros($ 8) that were great. The French fries were hands down the best side, followed by sweet plantains. Piña coladas were pretty good, didn’t seem to be much alcohol in them. $ 7 for a wine glass size. We’ve eaten mofongo all over PR and this was some of the best! Definitely worth the stop.

The first time I’ve had VEGETARIAN mofongo and it was SO good! It seems to be the base for all the meats. Well flavored and worth splitting ;-)

Food: — Queso Frito y Salsa Guayaba: 8 pieces of fried cheese drizzled in guava sauce, topped with salsa. Sooooo good! Fried cheese and guava sauce makes an amazing pairing. We all wanted more. 5⁄5 — Mofongo Relleno Mero y Camarones: Mashed plantains and ripe plantains stuffed with grouper fish, shrimp, onions, and green bell peppers. This was hands down the best mofongo I’ve had on the island. And I don’t even really like mofongo but this was delicious. The plantains were seasoned perfectly! And it was huge! I was only able to finish a third of it. It was just as good as leftovers as well. 5⁄5 — Nutella Flan: Nutella flavored flan topped with whipped cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce. It was good as it sounds. 4.5÷5 — Homemade Donuts: 8 pieces of homemade donuts covered with sugar and cinnamon, drizzled with caramel sauce. Even though I was so full from everything, I made it my business to eat my share. 5⁄5 Service: Fast and friendly. Our server spoke English. She was helpful and answered all of our questions. She also refilled our water pitcher several times. 5⁄5 Final Thoughts: If you’re ever in Arecibo I highly recommend this establishment. Amazing food, good service!

Excellent food! We ordered pita with hummus and spicy chicken wings as appetizers, both of which were spot on. For the main course, we ordered vegetarian mofongo, vegetarian pasta and chicken and mahi mahi mofongo — super good! It was by far the best food we ate in Puerto Rico. It’s located in an obscure street in a small town, but totally worth coming here just for this food!

Fantastic! 50+ Mofongo options(all types of meat, fish, seafood, or whatever combination you want). I had the dorado(mahi mahi) and chicken, and it was amazing! Fiancé had the steak and shrimp and loved it. He did think mine was slightly better though! We also got the fried cheese to start. Portions are huge. We had this for late lunch and skipped dinner since we were still full. The executive chef/owner came out and chatted with us. He was very friendly, and we found out he had worked in the Marriott brand in DC and along the east coast before moving to PR.

A MUST visit restaurant. Friendly staff, even friendlier Chef Mike Mahon. Great presentation of even the most traditional plates like Queso Frito and Sorullos. Amazing Mofongo, simply DELICIOUS. More than 40 combinations of «rellenos» to choose from for your Mofongo!!! On a Wednesday afternoon, after visiting the caverns of Camuy River, we discovered this restaurant through five star reviews on Unilocal. We immediately diverted to it. Upon arrival, at approximately 3:55pm, we discovered the restaurant closed. A quick call, politely answered, revealed that Mondays through Wednesdays, they close at 4:00pm. After expressing our sadness of missing on a restaurant with such good reviews, the lady told us that she would ask the Chef if he would open for us. Before we knew it, Chef Mahon was opening the door and welcoming us in with a smile. The inside has eclectic décor, and pictures on the wall that present a historic documentation of Chef Mahon’s past experiences such as working for the Mayflower Renaissance in D.C. And ither Marriott hotels. We started with an order of Queso Frito and Sorullos. The queso frito is served with a light guava sauce on top, giving it a flavor unlike any combination I have tasted before. Equally, the Sorullos were presented with black bean and corn salsa on the side, again mixing an unusual, but quite delicious combination of flavors, giving a traditional plate a new twist. For the main course I just had to try the much talked about Mofongo. I ordered mine with Churrasco and Sausage. Once again, Chef Mahon found a new way of preparing a traditional meal. The sauce was not too watery, like many other’s do. But at the same time it was very moist. It included green peppers and other vegetables that combined, bring extra flavor from the plantain. We accompanied the main course with their home made Sangria, which rivaled most other expensive brands. All in all, it was a terrific dining experience that for me, made this trip to Puerto Rico extra special! Thank you Chef Mahon and crew for indulging our appetite! Oh… I almost forgot… We were treated to their fabulous home made, cinnamon covered, caramel drizzled donuts! Yummy!
