Great bar with an exceptional view of the bay. Drinks are pretty pricey by local standards, $ 12 for whiskey or $ 18 for an appetizer but I’m used to these prices around DC. I still recommend coming here for a drink or two, it has a lot of class. Also worth pointing out that it is very easy to miss this place, there is a sign on the street but it doesn’t say where to go. You have to go around the building and through an unmarked black door. Seems like there would be a dress code but I went in shorts and they didn’t say anything. The locals who come here wear dress shirts and pants. It’s a nice place to bring a date. Fairly intimate and romantic setting.

Wish I could give this a better rating, but it’s tough to. The service was attentive, although a group of servers seemed like they were just hanging out; the ambience by the lagoon is romantic, but the food is average. The mango gazpacho was the highlight of our visit, but the salmon carpaccio and surf and turf were just about okay. The lobster was a bit over cooked & chewy, the veggies that came with it had been steamed a bit too long causing them to be mushy instead of crunchy. There are lots of other options in the vicinity and I can see why they only had 2 tables occupied that evening.

The staff was nice that is why I’m giving a 2 star and dinner was cooked right but it was over priced and very trendy nothing special at all two people be prepared for a $ 250 dinner that wasn’t worth it at all. Desert was the worst I ever had I don’t know how they have a high rating.

Service and food were decent. Restaurant was well-decorated with a beautiful view of lagoon. Food was hit or miss, interesting, inventive ideas, but did not pan-out when it came to taste every time.

All the experience was just excellent. I went there with my husband to celebrate our anniversary and we were pleasantly surprised with the high level service, very polite and always alert to any needs we had. We sad next to the window with a beautiful view of lagoon. It was really romantic. We order a bottle of wine. The selection of wines is really impressive and wide. As for the food, everything we had was delicious. The only thing I didn’t like too much was the halibut fish which for my taste was a little overcooked. All other dishes were excellent. We started with mango capacious, octopus, scallop tartar and crab cake. For main course I had Halibut and my husband ordered stake which was perfectly cooked as he wanted. We both ordered side dishes risotto which was really tasty. We will definitely come back to repeat this great dining experience.

Yantar is a beautiful restaurant located in Condado in San Juan. We were seated at a flat top table overlooking the lagoon and the city lights… it was a gorgeous view! The vibe of the restaurant is modern, with a bar located at the center and a funky, blown-glass chandelier hanging overhead. The wait staff was attentive and the food was served promptly. We ordered the ham croquettes(heavenly) and the manchego cheese to start. I had the mango gazpacho afterwards, which was the highlight of the meal for me. The chef herself comes out to serve the soup in a most spectacular way… it was like a magic show with steam slowly rising from the bowl. My husband had the salmon, which was cooked to perfection. Our only negative experience of the evening was when my husband opened a window to get a breeze. One of the wait staff abruptly closed it with no explanation. Not a huge deal, but he could have been more gracious about it. Make sure to stop here if you’re in San Juan and want a romantic dinner!

The service wasn’t up to par. A friend who previously visited Yantar raved about the food. We decided to try it with a group of friends. From the moment we entered, the service was horrible. The gentleman at the front wasn’t polite or welcoming. When my steak wasn’t made correctly, he was rude and abruptly took my plate away. The views and food could make this a great experience, but be aware of the lack of service.

So we came here on our last night in PR to have a nice dinner. I can’t complain about the food or drinks as they were delicious and our waiter was really pleasant. The problem we experienced was their shady up-charges. Long story short, they won’t tell you the side salad actually comes with foie gras on it and costs $ 18. It went down like this: I ordered the special and was asked if I would like a soup or salad to start. No mention of the foie gras at all. I ordered the salad. When the salad came, the foie gras was placed in front of me on a separate plate, and the waiter said he brought it out for me to try. So nice, huh? I took a bite and decided it wasn’t for me and actually felt bad because I thought he was being nice. Had I known, I would have asked for them to 86 it. I just wanted some greens. The salad itself was beautiful by the way. Also, my boyfriend asked for a side of potatoes that we were charged another $ 18 for… seriously? Please don’t get me wrong, we are by no means stingy… we live in Boston for goodness sake! We were also prepared to spend a nice chunk on dinner. We were just shocked that they slid in these charges to pump up our tab and I think it’s dishonest. Plain and simple, we got bamboozled. We left a beautiful dinner not feeling satisfied but rather that we were tricked. Not a nice feeling when you’ve spent a lot of money on a meal. That being said, go there, try the food as it was so delicious. Just be cautious of what you’re ordering because they certainly won’t tell you.

I have eaten at Yantar several times over the past year and have found the food to be well prepared and portions abundant, especially the steaks. The table service is exceptional. I recently called right before closing and they were were generous enough to accommodate us. The shrimp in phyllo dough appetiser is a must and the dover sole was superb. The wine list is reasonably priced.

Blown away by Yantar this evening. Currently one of the best restaurants on the metro area in San Juan and I was able to see why. The restaurant is located in one of the most touristy areas of Puerto Rico, Condado, towards the back side of the building. They do have valet parking but we didn’t notice until we were walking into the restaurant. Yantar has a very trendy ambiance with modern décor and a see through wine cellar. The bar is in the middle of the dining room. There is an amazing view of the Condado lagoon but sadly only the two-tops are lined up at the window. Good strategy for intimate diners. Service was excellent. The staff was so attentive in welcoming us and throughout the dinner. The chef came out before our meal and to check up on us as well when we had our food. It is very easy to tell they genuinely care about you enjoying your meal without being too over bearing. I opted to choose from the prix fixe menu not because it was a good deal($ 39) but because they actually had good selections to pick from. We ordered some ham croquettes to start out the evening and every single appetizer that came to our table(cauliflower soup, octopus, crab cake and a green salad) were amazing. There was a lot of detail in the presentation. Three of us ordered steak which was cooked perfectly. My side of risotto was my favorite kind, Parmesan. To end my meal I opted for the vanilla custard(flan) which I really enjoyed. All the dishes we had were delicious. The prices were very competitive with other restaurants of the same category and the portions were great because even though I had 4 courses I didn’t feel completely(uncomfortably) stuffed on the way out. I highly recommend this spot for a special night out with friends or even a date night(just make sure to ask for a window table). The super friendly waitstaff will make sure you have a great time.

A date with my husband in our honey moon, it turns out to be my best dinning experience for months. The service is excellent, the tasting manu is outstanding! The manu price seems expensive at first sight, but it is totally worth the price. The portion is pretty generous. And the view is very nice!

I took the tasting menu. Very creative and tasty. Not much to be picky at, but not so impressive for the price comparing to the quality.

We loved our first visit so much that we went again 2 nights later. Service is top notch and very attentive. Our first evening we started with the mango gazpacho… very good and so unique. Our entrees were the rack of lamb and lobster/shrimp risotto… both were amazing and generous portions. For dessert it was the chocolate cone and rice pudding, a perfect end to a fantastic dinner. On our return trip we decided to try completely different dishes. Our starter was the foie gras special… for us Californians this has now become a delicacy. This was an excellent way to start! Our entrees were deer medallions and sea bass, again both dishes were amazing. On both visits the service was perfect… the bartender was awesome and made our cocktails exactly as ordered. Really perfect evenings with wonderful food!

Great food and service. Ivan is very attentive to your every need. In addition to a fantastic staff and innovative menu, the View!!! What can i say about that view?! Tranquil, shimmering lights on the lagoon. You feel like you are in wonderland! Must go!

Went on a quick getaway to San Juan, and decided to have a meal at Yantar. Almost everything tasted good. We were pretty stuffed by the last dish we ordered(the halibut, I believe), and it was overcooked… to the point that I couldn’t take more than a few bites. My gal pal and I each got a cocktail(both were great) — she raved about the mojito that she ordered, and we split a few other dishes… the venison carpaccio, a smoky octopus, and a scallop ceviche. Those were all very tasty, and the surprise complimentary cheese tray, followed by the complimentary chocolate bits for dessert added to the pretty positive experience. The only thing that I’m not a huge fan of is the CONSTANT doting. I get it that it’s good service. And I get a little bit, that that’s what you’re paying for… but in my American opinion, it was a little much. — Also the restaurant was pretty empty, so it seemed overstaffed. We shouldn’t have ordered the $ 34 fish, but with that, and the drinks, the damage was around $ 120 pre-tip. We went back on Sunday to get a mojito, to find they were closed, so keep that in mind if you find yourself in San Juan.

We were looking forward to eating at this restaurant. the night started off great as the staff’s service is impecible, the atmosphere is sexy and fun, and the view over the water is beautiful too; so imagine our dissapointment when the food fell short. It simply was uninspired and not done well at all. The appetizer I had was a special, I thought it sounded different like something I would get in spain, but it turned out being probably the worst dish I’ve had at a restaurant. It was sardines and Mantago cheese. What a disappointment when the sardines were the ones from the can with the oil still seeping out of them– raw –slapped on some cut cold cheese. Yuck. I thought it would be cooked or flash fried or something, anything would have been better than that. How sad to ruin the tasty tradition of sardines done well in high end restaurants. Also, my entrée– the duck, was horribly chewy and gross. my husband’s portion of meat was similarly dissapointing and small. However, I must restate how awesome the staff was, really attentive and even gave us a free drink at the end of the night with our desserts.

This is a hidden gem. The quality of the food, service and the view are amazing. I had Wontons of Morcilla as appetizer. I can say with confidence, the best I’ve had. A delicate taste to a strong flavor. Then the star of the night Lamb Shoulder(Espaldilla de Cordero). Absolutely delicious! Cooked to perfection! Tasty as it can be! I highly recommend this place doe a great culinary experience!
