***$ 1000usd ‘s worth of clothes mysteriously missing after just 2+ months in Boxful’s care.*** After l wrote the review on 08/29, l retrieved the box with the intention to close my account, only to find that a full length, brand name down jacket and other items(namely a bathrobe, a new towel and some rather new household tools) were missing from the box. l contacted the company immediately, and the ‘support’ rep told me that the zip ties on the box were attached when l received it back. When l got the box back, there was in fact only 1 zip tie out of 2 still attached to the box, and it’s not like it’s hard to remove then replace a zip tie. they only insure up to $ 1K hkd per box. Totally not secured and absolutely irresponsible. l don’t want $ 1000 hkd(*if* they actually give it to me,) l want my stuff. l spoke to the Consumer’s Council today, which advised me to contact the police. On August 29, 2015, l wrote the following review: Customer service is not good. Seems to lack accountability and will not answer my simple query. Delivery people will also attempt to make people who have not been given permission accept a delivery. Details: l missed an appointment. Not a big deal. The service sent an e-mail that USEDLOTSOFCAPITALLETTERS telling me l have to pay a no show fee(which is more than 4 times the monthly storage fee,) also not a big deal, except l really don’t want to be YELLEDAT. since there are many such storage services, l want to stop using this 1 in order not to experience further abuse. Their FAQ does not have a section describing how to terminate the service, so l replied to the yelling e-mail asking how. The support e-mails are not signed, rather, they are signed ‘support team’ –lack of personal accountability is the norm in HK, as l am quickly learning. The reply e-mail to my query told me that l wasn’t there when they arrived. yep, l can confirm that. and that an old lady(my grandma) answered the door, at which point the delivery person attempted to make her take the box. This seems improper to me. l’m used to storage in the US where people have to be on an approved list before they can access the unit. if it is the local culture that anyone can go through your stuff just b/c they live with you, then this culture promotes lack of privacy & presumptuousness. the nameless rep the told me that s/he wants to call me to discuss. it took me a few minutes to gather that the ‘support’ rep was assuming that l didn’t want to pay the fee. l explained in reply that l was stressed out by their tone and simply want to quit, please tell me how. the rep did not reply to this. l’m expecting a call now. oh boy. fortunately, l finally saw a blurb somewhere on the site about how to quit. in summary: won’t let u quit, assumes you are as cheap as them, hard sells, and yells at you — in other words: HK reprezent, dawg. so if u want to lock stuff up and throw away the key, these guys might be for you.
