This was an excellent bar, I loved the music and the environment! The drinks were great and everyone was wicked chill and nice. Even though it can get busy, the staff does not forget about you! I will be coming back!

Great Mexican bar & restaurant(in that order) & a favourite place for drinks after work. Can get a bit steamy in summer… The fish taco is best followed by the pork. The corn, short rib & beet fries are all personal favourites. On the cocktail list the Cubano & Diablo come highly recommended. You can eat the pineapple… You cannot reserve tables here so is best to come early particularly on weekends(6 – 6.30pm). Service can be hit or miss but does not detract from the experience.

A customer puked all over me and my girlfriend in the middle of our meal. The puke went into the food and drinks we had ordered, but our waitress refused to even give us a discount, and when we pressured her(with puke in our hair and eyes) she gave us a $ 20 discount from a $ 500 bill. The tacos were gross anyways, which is probably why people were puking them up.

Fantastic hole in the wall with great ambiance, Mexican food and drinks. Not cheap but nothing in Hong Kong is and among all the ridiculous expensive bars out there, this place shows you a worthy experience. We went on a Thursday and the music was very chill with old school hip hop that my NYC boyfriend was loving. The drinks were great and our hostess Rebecca was dope-before we left she brought shots over for us. This place is particularly refreshing because it’s tucked away in LKF and is tricky to find as its in an alleyway. Make the effort to check this out if you can.

Super cool Mexican restaurant tucked down a dark alley in Lan Kwai Fong. Don’t let the Lan Kwai Fong crazy«Bourbon Street» feel kill it for you, for Brickhouse is kind of a gem amongst the rif raf. Definately shooting for younger 20 – 30 year old crowd, this place is trendy and cool for any patron of any age. Has an authentic Mexican feel, with great glassware, a well decorated environment, funky benched seating, stools for chairs, etc. Street tacos are their thing, along with other key Mexican items like tostadas, ceviches, chili rellano and even salads. Margharitas were strong and exceptionally well done. Quac is fresh and a great side item we ordered with chips. Granted it was only two of us and we are drinkers, but with a meal & three rounds of drinks, our tab came to $ 1100HKD. Pricey? Maybe, but worth it. Saw groups, saw couples, saw girlfriends… a cool place to meet up. As for its location down a dark alley, if you are walking up the hilled street of D’Aguilar Street coming from Queen’s Road… you pass Stanley Street, and when you pass Wellington Street, be looking for the dark alley like 100 feet up from Wellington Street on the lefthand side of the road. If you have passed Wo On Lane, you have gone too far. When you peak down the alley, you will see a big sign all written in Chinese that has nothing to do with Brickhouse, whose entrance is just under and beyond that sign.

Ok, I’m officially a trendy Hong Kong expat. I’m here at Brickhouse. The first thing that makes me cool is knowing how to find this place. An unmarked alleyway on D’Aguilar street with roofing tin at the entry way is the best directions I can give you. So now we can talk about the food, the vibe, the service, etc. Well, it’s always difficult for a couple in their 40’s to admit their age, but it’s kind of in your face here. If I’m within 15 years of the second oldest person here, I’d be shocked. But I always hang out with a younger crowd, so it’s not a deal breaker. The service is hit or miss. The hostess is super attentive and friendly, but getting my drink delivered to my table was a lengthy process. My server wasn’t nearly as friendly either. That says more about the hostess than the server, but there was a definite step down in the hospitality from door to table. The food is true Mexican gastropub fare. I would even call it Mexican tapas to be most accurate. Not the most hearty food(which is quite an achievement in a Mexican joint), but good nonetheless. I recommend the Mexican Street Corn appetizer. And if you are jonesing for tacos, the Fat Man Dancing is BYFAR the best of the 5 choices. Just phenomenal. So definitely make a trip here, but understand they’re the hip LKF restaurant, and they most certainly know it.

Very cool and hip! Good food and good atmosphere, although it can sometimes get a little loud. My personal favourites include the corn on the cob, the tostadas and the tacos(try one of each). You should very proud of yourself just finding this place

I am INLOVE with Brickhouse. This is one of those little hidden gems that seemingly everyone knows about, but the first time you go, it can be a little bit of an adventure finding it. It’s right on the edge of Lan Kwai Fong, on the east side of D’Aguilar Street, hidden deep down a long narrow alley. Just look for the long narrow alley with a big party happening at the end of it, and you’ve found Brickhouse. (By the way, this is one of my favorite things about eating out and drinking in Hong Kong: The BEST places are always hidden away down some non-descript narrow alley, with no identifiable markings on the outside, in between shop stalls in the wet markets, etc. Brickhouse is one of these places.) You MUST order the corn. must must must. So cheesy and creamy and delicIous — and TOTALLY worth having corn bits stuck in your teeth for the rest of the night. Also, every single variety of the tacos is ridiculously good — particularly the beef taco. The best idea is to order a taco platter and get a sampling of everything they offer. People gripe about the prices being too high, but the quality of the food matches what you pay. My favorite part of Brickhouse is the vibe. They usually have a decent DJ laying down good hip hop tracks, which adds a very casual club feel to your dining experience. Not a place you want to go if you’re looking for a quiet, low-key bite. The restaurant usually gets pretty packed, typically with a long wait for a table, but just chill, enjoy your margarita, engage in some people-watching and munch on some chips and guacamole until your name is called to be seated. There is an outdoor area that is first-come first-served, so you can bypass the long wait time for a «real» seat indoors by just hovering around the outdoor high-tops and laying claim once someone vacates. Note to all gluten-averse patrons — they don’t offer a corn tortilla option(at least I don’t think they do. I’ve actually never asked. Maybe you can and then put that in your own review.)

In a word — a tucked away bar with a buzzing atmosphere Longer version(for the brave) — I was meeting a friend down in LKF and he said he’ll pick me up from the train as it’s kinda hard to find that place, when we got there it was pretty clear why. Heard that it’s pretty crowded on the weekend and the line get to the main street, but on weekdays this place is hidden away from the public’s eyes in a little alley when you climb the slopes of this area. This place is mostly populated by expats and offers Mexican food with a twist. The lights are dimmed and it’s really cozy to sit, even though it’s a bit dense, I’ve ordered two soft tacos and a classic margarita and we also had some nachos on the table. The guacamole is divine. Not sure if they’re putting anything special in it or it’s just the avocado they use, but it’s tastes amazing. The tacos were pretty small but we’re also very tasty, had one veggie taco and one with chicken, both were tasting really well, but too small! I’d eat like a million more :) The margarita was nice but a bit too strong for me, had better. It’s a nice place to spend an evening or to start a night out, maybe, if you even feel like it — bring a date, but only when it’s not too crowded.

I seem to be odd-man-out on this one, but this place was a complete letdown for me. Yes the food is quite good but everything else just kills it. We arrived early as we knew there would be a queue for dinner not too long after they opened. The hostess greeted us with disdain and acted as though she was doing us the biggest favour in the world be letting us enter. Not a good start. Have a look at the menu and prices are very steep, but its Lan Kwai so not unexpected, and we decided to start with the sampler platter with one of each taco + margaritas. However getting a server was next to impossible, despite the fact that the place was still pretty empty. Finally was able to place our order. After a very long wait, the platter came out with tiny little tacos. I wasn’t expecting them to be burrito sized, but it was basically 2 bites and the taco was done. At HK$ 50 a taco(before service charge) that’s just outrageous. Yes they taste great, but an average guy would probably need 5 – 6 tacos just to feel semi-full. And sadly, the margarita wasn’t much better: weak and small. By this point we were not really enjoying it and opted to close the bill and go find somewhere else to finish our meal. This place is overhyped for me. There’s much better Mexican to be found in HK.

The restaurant is located in a small alley. If it is your first time going, you might feel like you are going to get mugged.(Nah, it’s quite safe.) Food is good here. Loved the watermelon salad and the beetroot fries. However, I don’t know why Mexican food is so expensive in Hong Kong. You gotta be kidding me when I have to pay HK$ 80 for a taco when I can get it for 1⁄10 the price in the US, even cheaper in Mexico…(I know it’s not Toxic Cow… aka Taco Bell but still…) They also serve horchata. I am impressed… even if the taste cannot be compared to the real deal. Yet, this place is crazy busy. Arrive between 6:00 to 6:30 pm if you don’t want to wait. Otherwise, the wait time is at least an hour. I guess you can always bar hop in LKF while waiting for your table.

This review is solely for their BONEMARROWTACO. That says it all! Everything else was okay but the BONEMARROWTACO blew me away.

It is a joke that i recommend people to come here but I have never been after two and a half years. It fades on my priority list when coming back to town. Mexican food was one of the cuisine I cannot resist. It is rich with source and that extra spicy always makes me less homesick. I have been wondering not had it be a big scene in Asia. As it is very rice oriented and similar to some South Eastern Asian flavour. Yes here we are talking about Wagyu beef taco which is more than ordinary. We had the Peruian platter which is staff recommendation. The salsa is those kind of street style. House-made tortilla chips is rather thin that make you appreciate it. The watermelon with mozzarella and muesli in spicy source is funny. I am not sure did I like it. And the CORN and TACO surprised me!!! Corn seems plain in term of cooking style. People just want to make sure they boil or grilled it to be done. Here they layered with mayo, chilli and queso(melt cheese and pepper). Hands down. Best dish for the night.

Having lived in Southern California, I have a pretty specific taste for Mexican food, like the cheap, really, really good kind. I joined a friend and his colleagues who were having an early dinner on a Saturday. I just sat down for a drink; everything on the menu was extra expensive, for Mexican food at least. I got the Fresca: gin-based cocktail using watermelon, cilantro and chipotle — «Yes please!» But it was so unfortunate that I didn’t taste any of the chipotle and no cilantro flavor either. In terms of food, I tried a few of the dishes… presentation is excellent but the food didn’t seem worth the $ you spend. My friend paid $ 850 for SHARED food and 2 micheladas, and I doubt he was full from the food… The location is good(for the business) considering how close to the MTR it is, and Lan Kwai Fong is just steps away. The atmosphere is too hip for me, there’s some Japanese-style art on the walls, which was culturally confusing, imo. I guess it’s kind of urban… I wouldn’t consider this place to be ‘hipster’y, just really trendy… Overall, better than other Mexican places I’ve tried in Hong Kong but be prepare to spend some $$$

I popped into Brick House for drinks last night and it was, as ever, packed with every table full by 8pm. Despite being sunny all week, it started to rain which is a bit of a problem as the bar space is limited with most drinks tables being outside. However, we improvised, balancing our own umbrellas between their outdoor parasols and manages to extend our sheltered space enough to keep dry enough. The restaurants windows open upwards to create an al fresco feel but the issue is that the rain collects on them to the point that, in a down pour, staff have to pull them down to release the build out. Expect wet feet. However, on a clear night the open air feel is great and adds to the cool alley way location which feels worlds away from Lan Kwai Fong. We had some snacks in the form of an assortment of tacos(their forte) and guacamole, both of which were yummy but the guacamole portion is so very small. Usually I can’t get enough of the tuna tostadas but as we had dinner plans elsewhere, I skipped these this time. Cocktails are expensive here but regular drinks are fine. The staff are helpful and will serve drinks to your outdoor table but it can be hard to get their attention. A visit to Brick House isn’t complete without a tequila shot and the range is pretty good. Definitely a great spot to get your night started and the food is decent too. Watch out for wobbly tables — we saw a couple of drinks hit the deck!

After recently returning from the U.S., I decided that I was going to quit all Mexican restaurants in Hong Kong, because I always walk out a bit disappointed afterwards. I decided to go to Brickhouse because one of my Mexican friends had been raving about it for months, my husband was out of town for the night, and I wanted some company. Needless to say, I wasn’t really excited about another Mexican food experience in Hong Kong. There was an hour wait to get a table for three on a Friday night. No problem. We just walked up to another bar in LKF to get a drink. Upon ordering, I was well aware of my surroundings and didn’t want to be too brave, so I stuck with the tacos as my friends had requested. We ordered chips and guacamole as a starter. The guacamole was full of flavor and Brickhouse is not afraid of spice. If you have a sensitive palate, you should steer clear. A bit later the tacos came out. Yesssss! There is a legit taco in Hong Kong. The pork tacos definitely outshined their beef counterparts. They were cubed chunks of pork served with cilantro, mango salsa, chili mayo, and a slice of lime. I was weary of chili mayo on my tacos, but it actually made the other flavors stand out while adding its own creamy kick. The beef tacos weren’t horrible, just not as flavorful as the pork. The drinks at this place are also very good. The margarita was classic, and not too sweet like many others around town. I also tried a diabla, which was a zesty vodka beverage served with fresh jalapenos. Again if you’re sensitive to spice, this a drink you want to avoid. Let’s get serious and talk about the vibe of this place. The lights are very dim inside. The wait staff is young, tattooed, and hip. If you were born anywhere between the ages of 25 – 40, the music they play in this place is for you! While dining, old jams brought me back to high school dances, spring break trips, bus rides with old teammates and overall good times. I plan on becoming a regular at Brickhouse. My only regret is not coming here sooner. **Tips If you don’t like hip-hop or pop, you might just prefer to go somewhere else. If you don’t like hipsters, you might prefer to go somewhere else. If you don’t like music interrupting your conversation, go somewhere else. If you don’t like waiting, arrive between 5:30 — 6:30pm or go somewhere else. Doors open at 6:00pm!
