Had noodles with broth and beef brisket. Better than the variant I’ve had in the United States, and is super cheap($ 42HKG/$ 5.50)

Buddy Noodle House is a traditional HK-style noodle shop along Hennessy Road in Wan Chai. The shop itself is small — can probably sit around 30 or 40 people at most — but my friends and I had no problems getting a table when we were there at around 8pm yesterday, perhaps because it was a weekday. Their order forms are in Chinese, so it’s probably not the most ideal place to go if you don’t read any Chinese. I didn’t see any English order forms and I don’t think they have any. If worse comes to worst, there are pictures of bowls of noodles on the walls and you can just point to one of them. On the ordering form, you can choose what kind of noodles, soup base and toppings you want, and they’re priced according to how many toppings you order. I went with hor fun(flat rice noodles), the clear soup, and lettuce and beancurd skin as my toppings. All of my friends’ noodles came in around five minutes — for some reason, mine took ten minutes to arrive, which wasn’t very convenient as I’m the slowest eater among them. Just as I was about to dig in, I realized that they had accidentally thrown in an extra toppings — I had five wontons in my noodles! Well, I wasn’t going to send it back just because of that and they probably wouldn’t let me anyway, so I tried one of the wontons and it was really, really hard. Needless to say, I left the other four alone. The toppings that I did order, though, were fine and generally the noodles were pretty good. They weren’t too oily, and the portion was decent too. Food here is very reasonably priced — my noodles were just $ 30 since I had only ordered two toppings. I was quite impressed and if I’m ever in Wanchai and needing a quick meal, I’ll probably be back again.
