This little restaurant is tucked away in an alley away from Castle Peak Road, but when we went on a Sunday afternoon it was packed full, unlike the more prominently located eateries on the main street. Needless to say, you know good food can be found here. This place is famous for their fish soup rice or noodle, with fish that is freshly caught and fried or stewed as you like. The oyster soup rice is a similar dish, with small but plump oysters that kind of melt in your mouth when you bite into them. We also ordered the Hainan chicken rice. The chicken is very tender. The rice looks totally white, I suspect they didn’t stir fried it with chicken oil and spices first, but it does have the fragrant you expected from the dish. Usually for this dish it comes with a soup, normally a bland or salty broth with a few limpid leaves. Here they have so much baby bok choy in it we almost thought they brought a dish we didn’t order! The laksa noodle can use a stronger broth, but the seafood is fresh and plentiful. We also ordered the pork neck meat and chicken wings as appetizer. We didn’t like the wings, it was just fried without much seasoning. The pork, on the other hand, has a flavorful caramelized crust and I’d highly recommend.
