It was an interesting enough spot in LKF but we weren’t overall impressed with the drink service, it was slow and they forgot several drinks… they had something of a decent bar menu but all the beers were imports which was a shame considering I wouldn’t have gone to this bar to drink Japanese beers. The place is full of ex-​pats so you can expect to pay inflated prices for everything.
The other part that I didn’t like was the table sitting behind me was smoking cigarettes the entire time we sat there so when we left I ended up smelling like an ashtray… not impressed!

If you have any spot to hit up for some damn good crafted cocktails, let it be Common Room. Come during HH for a good buck for your buck on their tasty drinks!
Service has always been quick and they are much more attentive than other bars around LKF. I suggest just sitting at the bar if you’re here during HH time.
The food is what you’d expect from a gastropub. Rich, heavy and full of grease. Portions aren’t particular huge but if you order enough amongst everyone, there will be plenty of share. Their dessert selection isn’t too shabby either!
Even if you’re here just for drinks and aren’t too hungry, I suggest at least trying their mac ‘n cheese! At least it’ll help you soak in the alcohol so you won’t end up too buzzed (or turn too red, like myself).

Not only is this a great spot to meet up before heading out to Lan Kwai Fong, but they do really great food as well. It’s easy to book tables, there’s a lot of space and it’s located right on LKF so it’s easy to find. Portions are small. Dim lighting.
Their wagyu fois gras sliders are bomb. Everything else is solid.

I went to Common Room’s grand opening, and subsequently, turned into a regular at Common Room for a while. We would frequent Common Room for Happy Hour. On a regular night out, we would normally stop there for a drink before our next stop.
We had dinner there a few times as well. It was such a cool environment. It was chill, the crowd was pretty decent, they have nice drinks and the staff were not snobby. I used to adore their poutine and mac n cheese.
In the recent months, my desire to Common Room has died down immensely. I think what caused this was one time we came here after drinking, friends ordered more drinks and we have a fleeting suspicion that they didn’t give us what we ordered. Either it was that, or they watered down the drinks/​mixed the drinks with something. I only get a headache the next day when I have been drinking something really crappy. Throughout the night, we only opened bottles, Common Room was the only place where we ordered drinks off the bar.
It may be a one-​time thing, but Hong Kong isn’t very forgiving, is it? There are way too many choices, with a mistake like that, I would rather go to other bars and check them out instead of going to my regular.
To be honest, I quite like Common Room. I like the vibe, and almost everything else there. Hopefully it was just me being sensitive or it was a solitary incident. I’m still craving their mac n cheese. Mmmmmm cheesy goodness.
