Come here for lunch every so often with my lunch mates. Food is ok at best but nothing to write home about. Aside from the curry, the food is very inconsistent and can be ok to bad. Avoid fried items when the restaurant is busy because as 9 out of 10 times, it will come out greasy. Service is bad as it is very evident they are seriously understaff for as long as I can remember. Don’t expect smiling faces or happy people. Dinner times is more less the same but taste of food is slightly better. At least the hot food items is hot and cold items are cold. Unfortunately I cant say that the service is any better then lunch time

The service here is ridiculous. The manager took my order and forgot to put into computer. No apology giving whatsoever. everyone works there just seams so grumpy. And the shrimp roll hard as rock

Deli Viet — yes, you guessed it — is a nice little Vietnamese restaurant located at the Citygate outlets in Tung Chung. To get to it, you have to walk all the way to the end — where stores like Sasa and Brooks Brothers are — and take the escalator down to the lowest floor. My mother and I were actually attracted to the chef’s recommendations on the menu — namely, the deep-fried roast pigeon. We were both kind of in the mood for it so we decided to come here for an early dinner. Since it was just a couple of minutes to six, we had no problems getting a table. Of course, we ordered the roasted pigeon, and decided to get the rice paper rolls with shrimp and Vietnamese sausages and a phở too — all to share. Even though it was still early, there were quite a few tables that were already filled — always a good sign. Our food didn’t take long to come. The pigeon and the rice paper rolls came at around the same time, but since the pigeon is best eaten hot, I went for that first. The skin of the pigeon was nice and crispy, and surprisingly not too oily. The meat of the pigeon was very tender too, and there wasn’t too much fat. The pigeon came with this reddish sauce that kind of tasted like the sweet sauce you would get to eat with Peking duck, but this had slightly spicy undertones. The rice paper rolls were really good too. The skin was a little chewy, which my mother complained about but I actually like this kind of texture. The shrimp and the other vegetables all tasted really fresh. I couldn’t really tell the taste of the sausage though — I didn’t much notice it within the paper roll. The phở was the last to come, and I don’t know if it was because I was starting to get full, but I thought it was just average. The beef was tender, but I found the soup a little oily and too salty. I’d definitely recommend coming to Deli Viet to eat if you’re out at the Tung Chung outlets. I’ve eaten at two other restaurants there — Festive Palace and the Golden Shanghai, and both of them weren’t as good as Deli Viet. Oh, and one kind of a funny anecdote — we waved the waiter over to tell him our order, and right after we said ‘one roast pigeon’, he nodded resolutely, said yes, then immediately walked away. Did he think we were just ordering one thing?!
