Dinner time at DiVino on a Thursday night. Not crowded — must have something to do with the rain that evening. Anyway…First off… The calamari. Big sized, potato chip type pieces: Two bites for one. I like that the batter was only a thin layer. But for me, it was more on the salty side. Second, I had the rooster(188HKD). It was tasty. A really Yummy Chicken! The salad that was on the side is seasoned with too much salt. If you don’t want the salt, make sure you tell them! It also comes with a side of French Fries with Truffle Mayo and Ketchup. They really overdue the truffles but it made the dip ohh sooooo yummy. Third, the steak. My husband said its just«OK». Fourth, the Porchetta. Also, on the salty to side to me and just«OK». Lastly, dessert. I had the apple tart with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Apple Tart is one of my most favorite sweets to have so I was happy this satisfied my tastebuds. It does take about 15 minutes to make as they have to bake it. Anyway, would I come out of the way to get here? Probably not. But overall, it’s an A-OK.

The roast chicken from the spit fire grill with a glass or red wine is my favorite. Perfect place for an outdoor drink post work as the aperitivo moment is so special…

I was rushed to my seat without being asked if I wanted anything to drink. Had to flag down the host to order a glass of wine. Come to find out that they are out of the wine that I wanted so the host, who claims to «know good wines» recommends a «better», more expensive choice. It was absolutely terrible… maybe because it was served at a temperature of about 80 degrees. I never complained and at no time did anyone from the waitstaff take my food order or check up on me. After 30 minutes, I had seen enough. Had to beg a waitress for my check. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because I had no food, and maybe the food has some redeeming quality.

The food was unremarkable and the service downright rude. While at lunch with colleagues, the manager and staff acted as though we were begin given a privilege to eat there. Even the smallest request was met with resistance: either by being ignored by staff or with a contemptuous retort by the manager. Never going back.

They really do not know what service means. Manager and staff talking and not taking our orders for 20min. Food was good.

I’m a big fan of Divino Patio in the«Brim 24» area in Wan Chai. It’s a great place for tasty Italian food, served by friendly staff, and in a pleasant, spacious and open environment. I suppose with the real estate being a bit bigger in Wan Chai, than say Soho, there is a lot more room to move, and Divino have done well not to fill every square inch with yet another table. As such, the ambience here is open yet inviting. There are a number of tables in the dining room, and semi closed off private area at the back of the restaurant, and a terrace out front. Technically the terrace is public space, and anyone can sit and use the Divino furniture, so you may find yourself sitting next to a random geezer. Also, the last time I chatted to the manager, he inferred that he shouldn’t technically be giving table service there, but he was not that clear about it! The food here is great. It is rustic family style Italian food, with lots of things like cold cut platters, cheese platters, pastas, pizzas, and mains like roasted chicken, steak, suckling pig. The pasta dishes are a little small, and definitely only good for one, so unfortunately these are not so family style, however, the pizzas are generous and hearty. My absolute favourite is the pork chop milanese, but make sure they cook it well. I have had a couple of re-fires on this dish before. The staff are great. Very friendly, polite, and reasonably efficient. Not the fastest service in the world, but always with a smile. Anyway, you there to have a leisurely meal, so why hurry the service! Marco and the other senior staff are particularly good, especially if you have a large group or an event. They will bend over backwards to make sure you are well looked after. It really does make you feel a million dollars! Great food, great environment, great staff — as you may have guessed, I am indeed a fan!
