Golden Computer Shopping Arcade

Ah the tech guy’s paradise. What kind of techy stuff can’t you find here? From cheap wires and cables, to custom desktops everything along those lines can be found at the Golden Computer Shopping Arcade! Its 3 levels of the same thing over and over again just at different locations! I was looking for iphone cables socket adapters and dash cams. Got it all at one store, negotiated a cheaper price and was super happy with the result.

This place is like a maze. It has a lot of things.
YOU WON’T FIND ANY CAMERA RELATED THINGS. So if you’re looking for lenses, batteries, DSLR and such you should look somewhere else.
Other than that this place has seriously a lot of things. If you know what you want it’s great if not you will get lost between all the USB cables and and outlet adapters.

I love this place! Been coming here over the last many, many years. This arcade has changed from a shady market place to a pretty nice shopping Center. Take the MTR and get out at the D exit. There are several floors specialising in different products. I have not purchased any high end equipment as I am not too confident of the warranty etc. but if you need cables, SSD, SD cards, low end gadgets, hard drives, phone & gaming equipment and are looking to see what are the latest equipment on offer, here is the place.
This is a must visit for geeks, wannabes, and just look see. The range will boggle you. Prices vary very little from shop to shop and at the asking price, it is not worth bargaining.
In the earlier days, if you are not a local, then you would expect to pay a premium. Now English is spoken and prices are fair. I would not begrudge the guy making a buck or two as they do work pretty long hours.
Most people are interested only in the products on offer and not the passerbys. But it is still a tough area and you have to keep a tight hold on your personal belongings. You have to behave appropriately and respect others in the way you haggle.
There is also a computer Center at the Wan Chai MTR Exit. But it is slightly more expensive.

If you’re looking for something computer or video game related, the Golden Computer center is the place for you. It literally carries everything you could ever image and more. From ancient gaming consoles like SNES to the latest technology, this place has it all. I love the variety that it has, and I love that it always surprises me with things I didn’t know I could need. The sales staff are generally really friendly and helpful. They’re more than excited to share their knowledge and passion with anybody willing to listen.
My only complaint about the center is that it is always really crowded and the aisles are narrow so sometimes it’s hard to walk around and navigate.
Lastly, I love the area around the computer center. There’s plenty of street stalls to explore and food to mass consume.

Perhaps this is amongst the mist famous names in computer arcades; Golden has already become a synonym to the place you can find almost everything related to computer.
Just a side note to share, there is a group if people in Hong Kong whom are referred as «golden brothers and sisters»; although they are not directly related to the shopping arcade but the website named golden, there is a significant overlapping between the goers of golden arcade and the browser of the golden website. Sheer coincidence? I cant be sure.
I still remember the first time I been to this place was accompanied by a tech geek friend of mine to buy a new computer for myself. Since I was, and still am a computer illiterate, i had my friend to communicate with the vendors as to what hard discs, RAMs and display card my computer should be equipped with. I just remembered the 2 of them communicate in a bunch of numbers and the deal was made. With sheer amazement, we left the arcade within 15 minutes and with a new computer; how could you not respect geeks people?!

First of all, I’m sorry if I am a little biased. I used to loath this place. With a passion!
I used to come here with some friends if they needed to buy computer stuff. Most of the time I come here, it is dominated by men. They are looking at computers and apparently one of the floors is all porn. i kid you not.
As a girl, I felt super uncomfortable walking thru this shopping mall, i would get weird looks, guys would try to look down my shirt (even when i was wearing a t-shirt.what the). I absolutely refused to step foot into this place for a few years.
Up until a few months ago, my friend was visiting from home, and his dad wanted to bring him. He didn’t have a phone and had no way to contact his dad, so I had to bring him there. Out of courtesy because he was an «uncle», i decided to join them for their shopping trip.
We visited the new wing that opened in the last couple of years, to find that this wing was actually much, much better than I would have expected. Of course, this is still not my preferred shopping mall, but seems like all the sleazy guys were gone and it really were just people interested in buying computer stuff.
I felt much more comfortable and have decided that I should not completely write off this shopping mall. I can understand why this place is so popular amongst the boys. There’s so much to see, electronics, cameras, gadgets, screens, tvs, computers, games, really everything a guy would like!
