Poor and inattentive services which have not been improved in years. Food was okay albeit some unique choices.

A far cry from the original chain in Thailand, the food in HK is more fusion than Thai. Favorite dishes are the chicken wings, iced tea and minced chicken with basil leaves over rice. Always a long queue at the IFC branch. Call to make a reservation ahead of time.

After all, Greyhound Café still does one of the best crêpe cakes in town in my opinion. Thin crêpe sheets one after another, layered with cream and drizzled with berries sauce. The crêpe sheets were also moist enough, making it pretty soft. One thing I like the most is not how thin the crêpe sheets are or how fantastic the berries sauce is, but the cream. It was so airy, making it a light compliment to the crêpe sheets with one another. It brought a light yet filling dessert after a meal.

Good place for afternoon tea, especially if you’re like me chilling with my BFF on a weekday :) Although this place is open concept to one of HK’s popular shopping mall, it was still quiet sitting near the back. I love the walls of this restaurant, it’s very artsy — something I always enjoy since it’s like my kind of design and artwork. The service was decent too, they didn’t have to do much nor did we have anything to complain about. We went there for their desserts, so I can only comment on that. As for their normal food menu, other people will have to be the judge. We ordered two tea sets which each include one cake and one drink. My friend ordered something related to a berry tea and a coconut cake. It was really delicious and the entire cake had coconut flavour as well as coconut shreds. On the other hand, I ordered the Thai milk tea and a chocolate banana cake. The milk tea was great and authentic! The cake was amazing too! It was very smooth when it touched my tongue and taste buds. More banana flavour than chocolate though. Overall I do recommend this place as a good meet up spot and to relax.

Greyhound Café is a Thai restaurant located in IFC, ground level right by Chanel, Shu Uemura, and Bobbi Brown. My friends and I decided to come here for dinner after class. One of them heard good things about this place, so we all said: «Why Not?» This pad thai… took forever! It took forever because they messed it up twice. This is actually a picture of the THIRD pad thai they brought out to me. I told them no onions and the first dish had red onions, and the second one had leeks(which is still an onion!). My friends were basically done with their meal by the time my pad thai finally came. After the long wait, the pad thai was not even delicious in any way. I can definitely get pad thai that tastes better for less. I also ordered a glass of red red — Montepuceiano $ 50. The red didn’t taste good either… When I told my cousin, who works at IFC, about my experience, she told me she’s not surprised about as it happened to the table next to her when she dined here. At the end of the meal, my friends and I agreed to never come here again.

Hong Kong probably has a ton of better culinary options than a chain restaurant in a mall, but one of my party was craving Thai food, and Greyhound Café really hit the spot after a long morning walking around. The pad thai was better than most anything you find in America, with very nice noodles and crushed chili powder, peanuts and lime on the side. The French onion soup was pretty good, but I prefer mine with lots of cheese and this had almost none. They’ve got a decent amount of vegetarian options. Also, as others have mentioned, finding the place can be tricky.

A while back, I met up with an old friend and she suggested we meet at Greyhound Café at Harbour City. I had heard of Greyhound, but had never been there. I’m not a TST person — Harbour City is a maze, and Greyhound definitely was not easy to find. If you were to ask me to go there on my own right now, I would probably get lost along the way(again!) I was pretty shocked when I realized that Greyhound was a Thai fusion restaurant. On first glance, there is nothing Thai about the restaurant — even the name, Greyhound, makes it sound like a western restaurant! The interior of Greyhound is very neat and kind of artsy — it’s slightly dim and there are lightbulbs hanging from the ceiling as decoration. The choice of food here is pretty extensive. It seems that there is more western food, like steak, lamb chop and hamburgers, than actual Thai food. But since this is a THAI fusion restaurant, I decided to go with my favorite Thai dish — pad Thai — while my friend ordered the spaghetti carbonara. We also got an appetizer — calamari — to share. My favorite dish of the night was the calamari. It was fried perfectly and didn’t taste too oily, and the squid was really nice and chewy. You could tell that the tartar sauce is homemade — I really liked it and it went very well with the calamari. I thought the pad Thai was not bad, but about a month later I actually went to Phuket and of course, I ordered the pad Thai a couple of times, and they all tasted much better than what I had at Greyhound! Comparatively, the pad Thai at Greyhound was less fragrant and lacking in peanuts. I thought the shrimp was pretty good though. I had a taste of my friend’s carbonara and it was quite ordinary, in my opinion — nothing too special, though it was very creamy. Overall, I don’t know if I’ll be back at Greyhound again because while the calamari was amazing and the pad Thai was not bad, the rest of the menu didn’t really appeal to me. It was a lot of spaghetti and steak, which isn’t really my thing. Although portion sizes were decent, it still was a little pricey in my opinion.
