Heng Fung is the best place to buy photographic filters and most accessories (e.g. lens caps, filter holders, blowers) anywhere in Hong Kong. They have the best prices, always have stock and have a fantastic return policy, which can’t be said for a lot of stand-​alone photographic businesses.
The shop might be off-​path for those who live on the Island but it’s just a couple of MTR stations away, specifically Exit C1 of Sham Shui Po Station. From there, take a left, stay on the right side/​pavement, and walk for about two blocks, until you see the name «Heng Fung Photo Supplies» or the shop number 151.
The shop is a typical photography joint, usually manned by two persons. I have to commend the staff as they’re both knowledgeable and helpful. I once inquired about a filter size and one of the staff showed me the actual filter instead of just talking about it. You can ask them for advice on what accessory would be suitable for your cameras.
I have bought a lens adapter from them (to use with my old film lenses) plus a couple of step-​up rings for my 77mm ND and CPL filters. It was 50 dollars cheaper (the lens adapter) than if I were to buy it in Mong Kok. After going home, I noticed that I couldn’t fit in one of the step-​up rings to my lens. I realized that I bought the reverse size! The next day, I brought it back and they replaced it within three minutes, no questions asked. It was reminiscent of the service quality in the US, where you can buy an item in a West Coast Walmart and get it replaced even when you’re in an East Coast Walmart.
If you’re just getting started on landscape photography (or on a student-​like budget), I recommend getting the «Tian Ya» square filters from them. Yes, they’re generic but good enough to achieve most shots. If you want to buy cleaning equipment for your camera and lenses, they carry branded Lenspen and Giottos for different needs.
