Hong Kong Disneyland

2^nd happiest place on Earth second to the one in California so far! Line aren’t too long and it’s so cute how the shows are performed in Cantonese. I would definitely come back.

I’m updating my review after my recent trip. Hong Kong Disney has really stepped it up a notch. The cardboard castle I heard about was gone, and they had a few new rides that made it worth visiting. Mystic Manor was very cool for a Haunted Mansion fan like me. There were so many elements inside it referencing the mansion, that I rode it three times to find them all. Grizzly Gulch roller coaster is also new and really fun. I rode it 5 times because the park is so small you have the time to. lol Both of these new rides have separate tracks, so you can ride them multiple times and get a different experience. I also got the see Paint The Night which was very very cool. Glad I gave them another try.

Disney is always fun. This particular Disney is on the smaller side and we came on a Monday, so it was less packed as well. They have a system where anyone who enters the park can use a «fast pass» system where you can skip a line every few hours. They also update the wait times of the queues at the front of the park, and have people updating the wait time pretty regularly.
There are only a few notable rides that you’ve got to do — RC Racer and Grizzly Gulch.
There are two parks here that are unique only to this Disneyland — Toy Story Land, and Big Grizzly Gulch. The RC Racer ride is in Toy Story Land — which is basically like the swinging pirate ship ride, except you’re on a track and in the RC car from Toy Story. It was fun, went very fast, and the line was nonexistent!
Big Grizzy Gulch featured the Grizzly Gulch roller coaster which is similar to a runaway mine train coaster. This one has a surprise twist though that I won’t spoil. The coaster lasted a pretty long time, wasn’t scary at all, but was a lot of good fun.
When Disneyland HK expands, it’ll definitely be a great park. It was the first foreign Disney I’ve been to but I appreciated the cleanliness, the short queues, and the Chinese Mickey/​Minnie!

I love Hong Kong, but to put a Disneyland in Hong Kong when it’s already the smallest place to live? Um, not a great idea.
This Disneyland is A LOT smaller than other Disneylands and DisneyWorld. I’ve been to to the ones in Florida, California, Tokyo and Hong Kong, only have the one in Paris left to go! One thing I found really special was the MTR that brings you directly to Hong Kong’s Disneyland. The MTR was decorated with Mickey Mouse shaped windows, it’s super adorable.
If you are between the ages of 12 – 54, the price of admission for one day is HK$ 539. That’s SO much more than the price of Ocean Park and personally, I think it’s definitely not worth the price of going. Yes, everything is very Disney themed, but I would not spend the money coming here, especially if you are from North America. Go spend it in DisneyWorld instead where you can purchase several days in Disney amusement parks than this tiny one.

As a native southern Californian, I knew Hong Kong Disneyland would be much more modest compared to the park in Anaheim and Orlando. I’ve visited both. However, I never made the trip to Tokyo Disneyland and Paris Disneyland when I was traveling through both cities and I knew I would regret not going to HK Disneyland. So while traveling through Asia this past November, I decided to plan a side trip to Hong Kong with the intention of visiting Disneyland.
The entrance fee for adults is much cheaper at 60USD. However, the park is significantly smaller! I went to the park on a Tuesday so the lines were much shorter at about a 5 minute wait. I’ve never been to Disneyland in southern California with lines like that. On a weekday, I would say you can complete the park in 4 – 5 hours because there aren’t any lines.
One of my favorite things to do when visiting other countries is to experience the food/​drink differences they incorporate to fit the demographic. Some of my favorite food/​drink highlights would probably be the mango pudding and the watermelon juice! Also, I’m not one to spend money on overpriced Disney souvenirs but I was completely suckered by all the cute things! They definitely have cuter souvenirs and I can only imagine what they sell at Tokyo Disneyland!

Smaller scale version of Disneyland compared to the original in Anaheim, CA. We were able to cover the entire park in half a day and caught a parade. The price of admission was decent especially with the «HK resident» discount that can be found on
. If you are a Disney fan it’s worth a look.

Worst theme park I have ever been to in my entire life.
My mother treated me to a Hong Kong Disneyland vacation for my birthday & let me tell you while I love & appreciate my mother so so much for taking me to a brand new country & trying to fulfill my dream of visiting all Disneyland parks… let me tell you we had absolutely the worst time at this park & resort hotel.
I’ve been going to Disney parks since I was a child, lucky for me both of my home countries have multiple Disney parks so I am spoiled in that way.
The park in Lantau Island is extremely small. That is to be expected so that’s fine. Considering this however the locals & Chinese tourists will cut you in the not so long lines anyway & they will shove, kick, & bodily harm you just to get on a ride (a lot of the rides are outdated by the way so is it even worth it…) No joke. It got the point where I had to shove people back & yell at them in English because it was painful & I was getting angry. None of the workers care. It may be a cultural difference but one that if you’re Japanese or American (I am both) won’t be to your liking so just be wary of that.
The castle was unfinished & looked like a cardboard cut out. Not very magical at all. My friend who had visited 4 years prior said that she had also experienced the cardboard castle. Are they ever planning to finish building it? Honestly it’s probably not even worth finishing. Also there is traditional Chinese music playing throughout the park. I didn’t hate it but it didn’t really match well with the Disney vibe.
The entire park smelled like a sewage dump. Worse then that there were people SMOKING inside of the park EVERYWHERE. Just — soooo — disgusting. Not safe for children or hey. ME, a grown woman who hates second hand smoke. The only place people weren’t smoking was on the rides. I was under the impression that Disney was a wholesome place but anything goes in China.
We ate at the cafeteria in Fantasyland. Food was about $ 30-​$ 40 per plate & not tasty at all. Old oil taste & a rip off.
Workers looked manic depressive. This is Disney (or so I thought). SMILE, I beg you.
The only really nice thing I have to say about the park is Mystic Manor is a bad azz ride. Would be cool if they had it in America/Tokyo…but not as bad azz as the Haunted Mansion in America/​Tokyo. Not worth a trip to Hong Kong. The Electric parade is beautiful but you can see that in the states or Tokyo & without fear of bodily harm.
During the day after a few hours of riding the main rides that we don’t have in America/​Japan we got sick of the lack of personal space & more sick of grown adults shoving & kicking us just to see a damn parade or to get ahead of us in the lines. We ended up going back to the hotel for a good 5 hours before coming back for the night parade.
I wonder if the Disney company is aware of how horrendous this park is. I think it could possibly tarnish their amazing reputation because before this Disneyland was the land of happiness but when I think of Hong Kong Disney a dark cloud forms over my mother & I. I used to want to visit every Disney in the world but you can bet your bottom dollar I won’t be making any effort to visit Shanghai if Hong Kong Disney is this scary. Faux Disney. I wanted to cry. I should have just gone to Tokyo Disneyland for my birthday where I would be guaranteed good customer service & a happy experience! NEVER AGAIN. I’d choose hot summers & long lines over this dump every time. I feel sorry for telling my mom I wanted to visit Hong Kong because this was the worst foreign vacation we have ever taken & this is considering we are quite well traveled. Don’t let the Disney brand name fool you!!! It’s not worth it!!!

My husband’s bucket list was the only reason why we came to HK Disney last February.
Disney has their own MTR line so it was pretty convenient. The car handles are decorated with Mickey heads and there are different bronze status that you can admire during your ride there.
I honestly was not expecting anything great but it turned out to be a great day trip. The size of the park was much smaller than the one in Anaheim, CA but they did a good job keeping everyone amused. Instead of the haunted mansion, they had Mystic Manor was very cute and entertaining.
They also have autopia cars here which we no longer have in the California location. The parades were entertaining and the fireworks show was very nice.
The only reason why I docked a star was due to the Sleeping Beauty Castle was under construction. Instead of the real castle, they have wooden boards set up and the castle was painted on it. It was pretty disappointing.

One of the smallest Disneyland’s I’ve been to, and I’ve been to every single one around the world.
The only reason this is 4 stars is because it’s the smallest Disney theme park.
For an extra $ 50 USD at the time you could get special fireworks seating, and snacks, and a special tour!
So back to this park. It’s like a mini Disneyland with just your basic classic rides.
You can do this park in 3 hours. And every time I’ve been here, 5 times and counting, there’s never been more than a 10 minute wait in line.
The monorail here is cool from the MTR, with Mickey ear windows.
Don’t expect the cute foods that you would find at Tokyo Disney, or that happy hospitality.
They’ll help you, but only begrudgingly. My experience though.
But, if you’re cheap, need something to do, need to check off Disney from your list, or want to do something unique in Hong Kong, then by all means come here.
Their Halloween horror is great here by the way with the headless horseman running through the park. It’s not cutesy like in the USA. Here they do try to scare you!
Which is another unique thing about this park.
5 stars for keeping me from being bored in Hong Kong, though for all you Disney lovers keep your expectations low for this park and you’ll be okay!

Coming to Hong Kong Disneyland this year completed my Disney Parks world tour bucket list (until Shanghai opens in 2016).
The Disney MTR ride over as many have mentioned is adorable! The comfy chairs, the Mickey shaped windows and handle bars, the various statues of characters encased in glass and the Disney music. Heading into the park has that familiar feel like every Disney Park, minus the crazy crowd at the entrance.
The first thing I noticed and my children immediately stated, «Mama, the castle is SO SMALL!» With there being a mountain in the distance behind the castle, having it that small is too noticeable. I felt as if you could put this castle into the one at Disney World three times.
Another disappointing aspect of the park was the fact that several of the attractions closed between 6/​7p.
There is a certain Magical feeling that I get when I go to a Disney Park but I just didn’t feel it here. It took me a few hours walking around the park in order for me to put my finger on it. Then it hit me, the cast members were not selling the Disney magic that I’ve come to love and expect. Maybe it’s cultural aspect, I don’t know but everyone was so serious and a little abrasive. Even in the interactive shows, they were blah…
My son was on the Army men parachute ride and one of his Crocs fell off. I was not on the ride but stood by the gate. I was shocked that one of the case members was rather confrontational with a 7 y. o! I came over to ask her if there was a problem and she stated that his shoe came off. I understand that Disney likes to avoid any law suits but if there was an issue, address the adult not child! This put a bad taste in my mouth. Especially a Disney enthusiasts such as myself I never thought I would utter or experience such a thing.
Oh, don’t get me started on the «Fast Pass». What’s the purpose of giving out Fast Passes if when you come back at your return time you’re standing in the regular line because the Fast Pass line is gone!
While waiting on the long line my son sees a cast member and gleefully says, «Hello». The cast member looks up at my son, and doesn’t even smile or wave, then continues to talk to his fellow cast member that’s next to him.
I actually felt like leaving after being at the park for under 4 hours! I have a two day pass and I hope the 2^nd day is better than the first…

Hong Kong Disneyland is my least favorite Disneyland so far…
I went to Hong Kong Disneyland with my family and we didn’t stay the whole day. Yes, it is that small.
My niece had a blast, but the adults got kinda bored. It’s not memorable for me. Maybe because it was raining when I was there, but I had a better experience Disney World during hurricane season.
The park consists of seven themed area: Main Street U.S.A., Fantasyland, Adventureland, Tomorrowland, Grizzly Gulch, Mystic Point and Toy Story Land.
The cast members speak in Cantonese, English and Mandarin. The maps are printed in traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese, English and Japanese.
Sleeping Beauty Castle is the icon of Hong Kong Disneyland. They should build a castle for Mulan… just saying: P

I love Disney and I’m so glad to have gotten to go to an international one outside of the US for once. Thankfully my cousin works here and we got in for free and an amazing dim sum meal when we arrived. (THANK YOU!!!)
First off, it’s super small compared to what I’m used to in Disney California or Disney World in Florida. But even though it’s small, there is a LOT of walking to get from one area to another.
The rides aren’t as exciting either (nothing crazy like Hollywood Tower of Terror, etc.). Sad face. I did check out the rides in the Toy Story area of course and they’re still very tame versus what we have in America.
Though, the actual park itself is really awesome and Disney’s impeccable attention to detail is out of this world. The parades are great to watch and I loved hearing some of my favorite songs in Cantonese or characters talking in Cantonese!!!
The only other gripe I had were how rude some people were! You’re on line and people are shoving, pushing, often right on top of you. Do you realize how HOT HK can get? And humid? Back away please! Just a few steps would help.
Also, on one ride, once they opened the doors, people SPRINTED to get seats. Calm down, people! Not that big a deal.

Hong Kong review #8
OK I’ll admit it, I visited Hong Kong Disney about 3 months after they opened, so it was more than a couple *cough* years ago.
As a Southern California native, I grew up not far from the one and only, original Disneyland. When I visited HK-​Disney, I all I could do was compare it to the original. I don’t know exactly what I was expecting, but I was impressed as it looked pretty much identical, with all the correct little details. Plus everything was brand new, SUPER clean, shiny and fresh, heck they’d only been open a few months, remember?
One thing about this park, while pretty much identical to original, was (at the time) MUCH smaller and missing a number of attractions. While waiting in line for one of the rides, I asked a «Cast Member» about this. He said there was a number of expansion plans in the works, the first was starting in six months. It looks like they’ve expanded a couple times since then.
As we are at Disneyland, we going to hit as many rides and attractions as we can, right? Is Mickey a mouse? So we went on the Jungle River Cruise, It’s a Small World, Autopia (a classic!), Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters (just for the hell-​of-​it) among others.
One interesting thing is, when you get in line for a ride/​attraction and there will be some spoken dialog, you choose between three different lines depending on your language, English, Cantonese or Mandarin. This makes sense as I assume many of the visitors come from Hong Kong and mainland China.
We also saw a couple of their stage shows. First was the 30 minute «Festival of the Lion King» in Adventureland. Imagine a more condensed «Disney version» (if that’s possible) of the big Lion King stage show as seen on Broadway. With acrobats, fire dancers and elaborate sets, this musical was fun, entertaining and well done. Again, each line of dialog during the show was spoken 3 times, in each of the 3 languages. (side note: unlike the US, they had no problems with taking photos during the show)
While in Fantasyland, we also saw «The Golden Mickeys», a 30 minute traditional Broadway style musical «awards show». Also well done and enjoyable if you like this type of thing.
OVERALL: Disneyland is Disneyland no matter what country you’re in or language you speak. It was odd tho feeling that I was a foreigner at this Disneyland! 再见迪士尼乐园 goodbye

As a tourist visiting Hong Kong, whether you have kids or not, Disneyland is a must visit.
I came here with my boyfriend and my best friend on a Monday evening, about 2 hours before the park closed. I knew nothing of what to expect — I had wanted to come but since the weather was questionable when we arrived, we decided to play it by ear. Prices are pretty reasonable — my best friend lives here and she has a pass with fewer blackout dates than the US ones — a regular day ticket comes out to roughly $ 50 USD.
The main differences between Hong Kong Disneyland and California Disneyland (which is the one I typically live closer to) is that Hong Kong Disneyland has a Toy Story land (with an awesome boomerang roller coaster), a fun 4D symphony orchestra show, and their version of the Haunted Mansion which I actually enjoyed more, Mystic Manor. They also have a new ride which is the equivalent of Thunder Mountain Railroad too which was pretty fun and goes backward.
Because it had been raining earlier in the day, the park was virtually empty. We were able to get in on the «different» rides that we had wanted to go to within the 2 hours we were there before closing and even before the fireworks.
My personal favorite part of the park is the convenience — just get onto the MTR and make your way onto the yellow line. Hong Kong Disneyland even has its own MTR stop AND Disney-​fied tram which makes the experience even more awesome.
I’d love to come back one day and spend a few more hours in the park to walk around and have fun. There’s definitely not as much space as there is at any of the US Parks, but the experience will still be a positive one nonetheless.

So the park is beautiful as are all the Disney parks. This theme parks has it’s +/​-​like all the other parks.
Positives:
1. The park is not too crowded
2. People watching is very interesting
3. Staff is very friendly
4. Food options are good from American to Indian to Chinese and beyond
5. Admission is only $ 60USD which is not bad but, you get what you pay for
Negatives:
1. Too Humid and HOT 104 °F with 85% Humidity.
2. Lack of powerful cooling fans while waiting in lines under the blistering sun
3. Not enough coasters. They only have Space Mountain and Grizzly Gulch Mining coaster as the top attractions.
4. No Indiana Jones, No Matterhorn, No subs, all Iconic Disney rides.

One of my dreams got checked off… Yep, finally went to Hong Kong Disneyland. Love every bit of it!

With 15 Disney World trips in 5 years under my belt, I consider myself a Disney snob, as does everyone who knows me. I recently had the chance to go back to Hong Kong and obviously HK Disneyland was at the top of my itinerary. My first international Disney! A momentous occasion.
I’d heard many accounts about how it is a half day park but I knew I’d need more time to be able to appreciate all the details as well as get in some repeats. Soo, my sister and I decided to purchase two day tickets.
We ran in there, highly anticipating our first glimpse of Sleeping Beauty castle but instead, stopped short when we saw what was ahead. A boxy, silly looking refurb façade. Sigh. It was the most unmagical moment ever. Alas.
The park was fairly empty until noon time. It was so weird to have the whole place to ourselves. It was also so weird to actually need to use a guide map! But we got so much done! Let’s see… rides? My favorite was definitely Mystic Manor. In fact, I’d put it in my top 3 favorite Disney rides of all time. The ride is so technologically advanced and the theming+details were all incredible. I also really enjoyed Space Mountain and Runaway Mine Cars. The Space Mountain here is a much smoother ride than the one at WDW. The Runaway Mine Cars was pretty thrilling too. Similar to Big Thunder Railroad in WDW but longer. Faster. With a twist!
As for the shows? The Golden Mickey’s was spectacular and I couldn’t take my eyes off of the stage. The cast was wonderful and Bebe, the lead, was such a doll. Her voice gave me chills. As did Rafiki’s from Festival of the Lion King. The show here is very different than the one at WDW, not as interactive, but more of a play by play. I enjoyed this very much though. My sister and I both felt that these shows were under appreciated though. The audience for both was so stoic and didn’t seem to be having a good time. Cultural difference? I don’t know. This kind of took away from the whole experience, especially when the cast is asking everyone to clap but get them from just from my sister and I and a select few others. Meh.
The parades were DELIGHTFUL. I preferred the evening Paint the Night parade for sure — the colorful lights and catchy song made for an explosive audiovisual experience with all your favorite characters at the forefront. Disney does it best.
Food — mostly asian options of course but quite a variety — Indian, Chinese, Malaysian, Korean, etc. Starliner Diner offered burgers and such too if you prefer. My sister and I had solid meals at Tahitian Terrace and Explorer’s Club. We also decided to try as many HKDL specific snacks as we could stomach — curry popcorn, chocolate black sesame ice cream bars and korean dried squid. All were YUM.
The fireworks were great but would have been so much better if not held behind the backdrop of a big ol’ box. Arggh. The castle refurb was seriously such a letdown although honestly the only one.
Some differences to WDW — It was definitely very different hearing the characters speak in Cantonese and Mandarin but it was cute. Park crowds were pretty light on both days. Instead of pins, everyone seems to collect stickers here. The cast members with the red pouches have them, fyi! Umm, the attention to detail between lands is a little lackluster. There was a lot of open blank spaces. Eeh. The cast members also don’t look as happy. It’s Disney but it didn’t feel as magical. It didn’t feel like «home». In the grand scheme of things, there is no comparison to WDW but I still felt that HKDL had its little charms.
Overall, I had an incredible time. 2 Disney’s down, 3 more until I hit the ultimate achievement!

2 ½ stars, especially if you have been to Disneyland in LA or Disneyworld in Orlando.
We had a one day layover in Hong Kong on our way back to Seattle, so we decided to check this what Disneyland out. From the airport, it is about a 25 minute cab ride away. You can also get here on the MTR as well (Disney has its own mini-​line on the subway system).
We got here on a Friday afternoon at 3, and the place was barely half-​full. We were starving, so we decided to get some hot dogs. Bad choice: I can’t even describe the taste and texture of it! The corn wasn’t very much better either: way overcooked.
As far as the attractions itself, it is a pretty small park with only a few rides that I would characterize as must-do’s. They have Fast Passes here, but on this day, you could basically walk up to the rides and get on. My favorites would have to be Space Mountain (a classic) and the RC racer one in the Toy Story section.
Other than that, you have a lot of rides for the kids. After 2 or 3 hours, we were ready to head home, regardless of the price (500 HKD per person). If you have some time to spare and want to buy some Disney souvenirs, then head on over here. If you want a big amusement park experience, you’ll have to head over to the States.

Hong Kong Disneyland has a special place in my heart because it was the first out of state Disney park I visited. Yup, I haven’t yet even been to any of the Disney parks in Florida. It also holds a special place because it is amusing to hear Disney characters and the Disney attraction spiels go about in Mandarin Chinese and in Cantonese.
So, unlike my normal mode of transportation (driving) in California, my friend took my brother and I here via monorail. Via a very Disney-​fied monorail. I absolutely loved every second of riding it. Mickey head shaped windows, Mickey head shaped handles, Mickey figurines everywhere!
Anyway, once you get off the monorail, there’s a bit of walking before you come across a fountain with Mickey surfing on the water sprout of a whale. Veer off to the side and then you arrive at the main entrance.
I visited December 2009, so it was before the expansion and addition of some of the lands. It is smaller than the California version, so luckily we were able to see what we wanted to see and not miss out on too much.
What you should know:
1. Merchandise. I truly believe the Asian Disney parks know how to properly merchandise any Disney item. What you may find cute and cool in California is probably mediocre at HKDL. I spent so much time in the evening browsing and buying in their shops. So many cute merchandise and so much fun items to buy! They are big fans of Scrump (Lilo’s handmade doll) and Angel (the girl, pink version of Stitch) so you’ll find plenty of plushes and toys and key chains for them. One unique keychain was with your given Chinese last name. Unfortunately I didn’t have a very common Chinese last name, so I couldn’t get one, but if you’re a Lau/​Liu, Zhang, Wong/​Wang, etc, you’ll be in luck! A really cool metal keychain I brought turned out to be a nail clipper too, so I was pretty stoked to discover that when I came back to the States and looked through my lovely purchases.
2. Comfort Asian food. While they do have the standard burger fare, try the food more in tune with the Asian culture. We ate in Fantasyland and enjoyed BBQ pork and bok choy with rice and orange chicken with daikon with rice. The latter dish even came in a Mickey shaped bowl!
3. The blending of English and Mandarin and Cantonese on attractions and shows. Over in California’s Disneyland and California Adventure, we are stuck with English and Spanish, and the occasional French and Japanese. I find it fascinating to hear Mandarin and Cantonese from characters and cast members, it seems vaguely like being home but with Disney.
4. Purchases. So since Hong Kong Disneyland is in, well, Hong Kong, the local currency is in Hong Kong dollars. Unless you have their local currency on hand or a credit card that waives foreign transaction fees, expect to pay a little above the sticker price for your items when your credit card statement arrives. However, I discovered that I had no problems with any foreign transactions fees or currency exchange fees on the credit card that I used when I was buying my merchandise in HKDL. I was using the Disney Visa card (the regular one that doesn’t have an annual fee). This card certainly did not come with waiving of such fees advertised, so it was a nice little perk to use the Disney Visa credit card and not get dinged on my credit card bill.
5. This Disneyland very much feels like the Disneyland in Anaheim, CA – most particular in Main Street. It’s not like Tokyo Disneyland where they have their version of Main Street in a World Bazaar kind of setting with overhead covering. This Main Street reminded me so much of home that while we were on Main Street at night, there were moments when I thought I was back home in California. The only difference was in Town Square, where there’s a gazebo in the middle for character pictures (with Mickey and Minnie usually) instead of the flag pole as it is in California. Their castle is also the same version as California — Sleeping Beauty Castle.
Having recently visited Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea in March 2014, I would say that out of these Asian Disney theme parks, Hong Kong had the better merchandise while the Tokyo parks had a better park atmosphere (people were super polite, doesn’t feel super crowded even when it was packed, and more unique attractions). Nevertheless, with all the new attractions and additions at HKDL, this certainly warrants a return visit!

HK Disneyland was a great intro to my 3 yr old to Disney Parks. It’s definitely much smaller than Disneyworld so it was very manageable with a very active kid. Smaller park with lots of Disney charm? Yep, my son was in 7^th heaven.
We visited on a weekday at the end of October and found the park not crowded at all. The waits for rides/​attractions were short – some we really didn’t even have to wait, we just walked through the line maze and were able to walk right to the ride. The park is broken down into different «lands» and the ones on our must-​do list was Toy Story Land for my son and Mystic Point for me. We dotted around and hit some other rides and stopped for drinks/​snacks at one of the many kiosks.
The carousel, Flying Dumbo ride, and the Teacups – all those were fun and nice to see as they really evoke fun Disney memories to me. My son loved all the rides, but he definitely found Mystic Manor too scary (he hid his head behind me the whole time. but that attraction was definitely my favorite – the special effects were amazing and very entertaining) and the Adventureland boat ride was fun for him too, until the big mechanical hippos snarled at him. Yikes!
Of course, many of the attractions «end» in the souvenir shop where you can get anything and everything with the Disney logo.
If you are travelling through and considering a stop: We had a 12 hour layover in HK on our way back to ORD from the Philippines and I found making a day at HK Disney perfect for us. I would have liked to have seen some shows but knowing how my little guy is with sitting still, he was perfectly content exploring the park on foot, riding the rides and enjoying all the snacks/​treats. AND the day tired him out that he pretty much slept the whole way back to ORD.
The only negatives I have to mention is regard to the park opening and the characters. The park does open at 10am like their website says. But only the front gate opens and you are free to venture Main Street USA. The rest of the park does not open to the public until 1030. I guess parks have their rules but I was pretty bothered by it since our time was tied to us being on a layover. Also, where were all the characters? I hardly saw any. Just Mickey, Tinkerbell, Snow White, some assorted Green Army Men in Toy Story Land but that was it… Goofy? Pluto? Cinderella? Donald? where were you???
