Hong Kong University Press has been one of the most useful local resources for me. The HKU Press is, and has been since the 1950’s, an authority on Hong Kong Chinese history and cultural studies. It works hand in hand with the university, obviously publishing professors from their own departments, but also engaged in dialogue with professors overseas, to compile a respectable collection on HK scholarship. When I was at university in London, I did a lot of research on Hong Kong history and politics, and ‘HKU Press’ would always come up in the best articles or journals. It is one of the few portals one can order off textbooks on Hong Kong contemporary politics, including my most recent acquisition: «The Dynamics of Social Movement in Hong Kong» (ed. Stephen Wing Kai Chiu and Tai Lok Lui). Very interesting read.
The Press also have some incredible book series covering Hong Kong history, law, politics, economics, and so on, pushing the boundaries of Hong Kong scholarship for decades. Particularly pleased with their Queer Asia book series, which analyses non-​normative sexualities in Asia — one of the first series to look from this non-​West perspective.
