If you live on an mostly isolated island, you better bet you get the best of everything there. Thankfully, you certainly have Kum Po(金寶) as your go-to local Chinese restaurant. First of all, reserve a table. This seems like on the far side of the Ap Lei Chau island, away from South Horizons and Lei Tung Estate. But boy, it was packed here. They have an upper floor too, which was where we had our seats. I liked it up there, cozier and less hectic. We ordered a lot of the usuals. Shrimps(no pic sorry!), roasted baby pigeons(乳鴿), scallops(扇貝), deep fried salt and pepper squid(椒鹽鮮魷), abalones(鮑魚), etc. Baby pigeons were you-would-give-it-a-pass good, but the shellfishes and molluscs were amazing. You’d wonder if they caught them fresh at Aberdeen. Well, not really if you consider the quality of the water here, but they were certainly very freshly raised and caught locally. And the one single greatest thing — no corkage charge! We bought our own white wines there, as local restaurants never serve up to standard wines(nor good for food-pairing). Over all, very satisfactory experience. Staff warned us the kitchen was busy that night, but the food was served really quickly. Almost too quick that we *wanted* to linger and chitchat a bit longer!
