It’s sushi time! We had a friend in town and decided we’d had enough of the run-of-the-mill sushi chains and headed to an independent restaurant for a different range of sushi. We had a delightful time looking at the menu, deciding what to order and settled on quite a few different types of sushi, sashimi and grilled items with a range of salmon, yellow tail, toro, eel and the best plate of the night — the volcano roll. It was spicy, succulent and divine. The other highlight were the grilled mushrooms. Perfectly baked in tin foil, they were buttery and tasted even better with a dusting of chilli powder. We ventured out and tried a bacon wrapped lycée — it sounded like a good idea. Unfortunately the bacon let down the dish. It was the thick type of bacon and tasted a bit too much like a slab of ham. The waiters lacked a little common sense and muddled up our orders quite a few times. If you have a table of five people, 3 pieces of salmon sushi is not going to be enough to fill hungry bellies. They did redeem themselves, in my books anyway, by «messing up» and bringing us two plates of volcano rolls instead of one. We happily paid. My verdict, go for the volcano roll, but it’s not a high restaurant on my list to return to.

Although it’s been a while visiting this Japanese restaurant, I would like to say that this is my all time favourite place for sake dining. Great deal, great service, excellent food. Never out of budget even if we order food & sake in an all-you-can-eat manner. The waiters are even able to help on sake pairing. And the food here is never disappointing.

tables are extremely crowded. I had 3 bags with me n could barely move after I sat down. food is nice. florescent squid is cut way too small. they shud hv the whole ones served instead of cutting them into tiny pieces. taste was good tho. sea urchin can’t go wrong n soft shell crab can’t go wrong. I’m quite impressed with the sushi tho. they were not stingy on the fish size. so that’s better than wat I have expected. overall good dinner accompanied by a good chat! the missing 2 stars are the seatings, décor n the wow effect of the food.

One of the many eateries on Tung Lung street, it is interesting to see how these older places match up to all the new ones(Penthouse, Jamies, Sushi Too etc) that moved in in 2014. The food here is typical Japanese izakaya(居酒屋) style. I know drinks is a huge part of that culture, but I cannot comment much on the drinks menu since I didn’t drink this time. Food is the usual you would expect at a family style izakaya, nothing overly innovative or ultra high quality. Food is decent and within expectation; in general very good value for money; the bill for two was just HK$ 4xx!
