The location of this restaurant is central, convenient yet unique. How often do you see restaurants in such a beautiful park where it provides a vast selection of delicious, authentic Thai cuisine with choices of Japanese, Vietnamese and Szechuan dishes. The view of the waterfall along with the delectable, mouth watering food is so wonderful that you’ll never want to leave this gorgeous restaurant. L16 really is worth a visit when traveling to Hong Kong!

Why is there a restaurant in Hong Kong Park? Wouldn’t it be better to just bring a sandwich and eat on the bench? Frankly, I don’t know but I’m just thankful that there is such an option. The website says that L16 has been in the park for over 7 years. Their main cuisine is Thai food and they also have a Japanese menu consisting of raw fish(think sushi and sashimi) and teppanyaki. I have been visiting Hong Kong Park since I was a kid and only discovered this restaurant recently. L16 sports alfresco dining, with an earthy and nature-inspired interior. I didn’t like the chairs though, they looked brittle. I appreciate their set menus that cater starting from 2 people up to 8. The menus had pictures but unfortunately, the text descriptions were just too vague(e.g. pomelo salad with seafood — what seafood?), and when I tried to ask the waiter, they also had no idea. I guess I just came on a not-so-good day. The prices are also undoubtedly targeted for tourists. I was looking to try classic and new Thai dishes so for a new Thai dish, I went for the grilled beef steak in Thai-style. I liked that the meat was grilled perfectly and had minimal charring. The meat was tender but not as tender as I would like. A friend of mine went with the charcoal-grilled whole squid. It didn’t look like a whole squid but the taste made up for it. We shared the fried rice in whole pineapple which tasted the same as any Thai or Vietnamese version of the same dish. Although the menu says whole pineapple it came in half. Finally, we couldn’t go to a restaurant with a Thai menu without trying out the Tom yum. Can’t complain, the soup is as good as ever. If you do decide to dine in here, do it in the winter months. Better to enjoy the location and eat at the alfresco tables instead of dining inside the glass house.
