Like prvious reviews stated, it is hard to pin down why I am not giving this place a 4, but don’t let my 3 star rating indicate that I would not be back. The feel of this restaurant does have a cafeteria vibe, but it is clean and as my husband says«for a Vietnamese joint, you are not going to see much nicer than this.» Let me reiterate that the place felt very clean, which is not really something I say about many restaurants in Hong Kong. They are a Vietnamese restaurant with a Thai influence on some stuff. They have four locations throughtout Hong Kong. We enjoyed our four dishes, but probably most enjoyed the spicey squid appetizer. The spice itself on this dish is really just tasty. Our least enjoyed item was the pineapple and seafood fried rice. Not that it was bad, we have simply had better. Prices were reasonable and staff was attentive, but our experience was on a Sunday around 1PM, which I do not think is represenative of «crunch time/lunch time» in Central in Hong Kong.

Absolutely decent place. I’ve been here twice. Both times, the food was tasty and there was nothing wrong in any way. It’s just the ambience that prevents me from upping the rating. It feels rather like a cafeteria, despite the lovely pictures on the menu and tasty food. I wish I could better put my finger on it. Perhaps if it was darker, or more ‘designed’ etc. As it stands, it’s a fine place for lunch or to go with a group for dinner before heading out in the surrounding area. It’s just not really a ‘dining experience.’ If you know what I mean. Still, I’ve not been disappointed by the pineapple fried rice(nice balance of sweet and tangy — which my friend loved so much she ordered another after our group finished our first), fish cooked with salt crust, fried pork rolls, shrimp rice paper rolls, nor the mango and sticky rice with coconut cream. I’d eat here again, I just wouldn’t think of it often because it wouldn’t occur to me — it’s ordinary, not extraordinary.

I have the say that the food taste fairly good. I had a phở, a skewer platter and a chicken salad. The salad was very fresh and the sauce really brought out the taste. The ingredients were cut to proper size and slices to hold the sauce. Really enjoyed it. The skewers platter was huge with all sort of meat and only $ 92. Spiced well and cooked well. The phở, noodle was good and have a good chew. But the soup does not taste like normal phở soup. Lot of meats generously given. But I think over all so so. One downside is that the service was very systematic, the servers looked attentive and with smiles yet their attitude have some hidden harshness as if they don’t really sincerely wanted to serve you. Anyhow, I will go back for the food.

One of my regular lunch spots coz of its convenient location. Best to get here before 12:15pm for lunch to avoid the long queue. Food is good but just like most restaurants in Central, they rush you out of your seat so they can serve the waiting crowd. I like the rice plate lunch combo with pork neck meat and pork chop– grilled meat feast that comes with a nice portion of rice. Phở is ok as well but sometimes soup is not hot enough. Their tomato soup base with crab meats noodle is very popular as I see a lot of people order that. Come here if you want a quick Vietnamese meal, but do not set any expectation for their service.

A-Ok folks! It looks like it could possibly be «fancy» from the outside. But once you walk up the steps, it’s just like any other restaurant. They had the fancy stuff on the menu which could range from about $ 90 — 110. But we opted for the traditional Banh Mi and the PHO.(I figured that if the basics were good, the more expensive dishes would be even better…) Banh Mi — What i liked… toasted bread and not too much added sweet sauce that some places put… what I didn’t like: where’s the chicken?! I think they gave me minimal chicken. I wish they had put a bit more veggies too. For me, It tasted too«Western». Considering where they are located, I guess you can’t blame them for catering to the western taste bud. PHO — satisfying. We ordered the«L’taste PHO». The name made it sound like it had some kind of special ingredient. But not really… It tastes normal. Quality wise, it’s better than«other places», but not as good the«another place». Try it!

Here for lunch today. Had the chicken phở, tastes good. I was craving a big bowl! Spring rolls were good, daughter has the pineapple fried rice.

Delicious, affordable Vietnamese food is what you’ll find here. The entrance can be slightly misleading of the place, however, as it’s little more than a narrow, dimly lit staircase which gives me the feeling of «Am I in the right place?» Well, I hope so or otherwise La Taste has put their menus outside some one else’s restaurant! I find myself going here often enough for my friends to tell me, «Vietnamese? Again?» which can only mean it’s doing the job of providing food well. I’ve only ever been for dinner so I can’t comment on their lunches. As for their menu, they provide a solid choice of appetizers and mains; your traditional Vietnamese spring rolls, some curries, rices, and noodle dishes, you get the point. It’s a chilled out place, great for a casual date or simply just to hang out with a friend. Of all the times I’ve been I’ve never ordered something I’ve regretted. There are, however, some dishes that I’d recommend. For example, the steak curry(rice needs to be ordered separately) is rich with flavor, filling, and only $ 68, or there about. Their phở noodles is one of my favorites and always a safe choice, at a bargain of $ 52. And their cod fried in batter is also quite good, not my favorite but not bad by any means. It was the same friend who invited me here first that got me hooked on their rolls, they look like springs rolls but are transparent and not deep fried. That’s how they were described to me the first time and I was thinking, thanks but no. But I tried one, a crunchy spider roll, after dunking it in that sweet sauce and it was love at first bite. Add an ice cold coconut into the mix and my answer is a serious, «Yes, Vietnamese again.»
