Marks & Spencer Food Store

This is a fast, casual spot to grab a refreshment and people watch by the midlevel escalators. There are many ready-​made sandwiches and salads that remind me of Whole Foods lunch options. Grab a latte and sit on one of the stools by the windows.

Brits like it. It got everything you need if you miss home.
Everything here other than the wines are unsurprisingly overpriced. I still come here for some quality food and snacks, which you can’t get them elsewhere. The chocolate, in particular, does that little something to me and I always have to come back for more.
I like Mark & Spencer when they sell simplicity. Take the wine buyers in the M&S. The got the best wine buying team. They may not get the most premium /​expensive kinds of wine, but they always get wine expressing the most signature of the region. You can taste the Chardonnay at Chablis, Sauvignon Blanc at NZ, etc. which outline the exact characteristics you read on the textbooks.
Same goes for the food. The may not be the best «Grass Fed Organic Beef», but they always have these decent, fresh choices of food for you.
My complaint? Damn the air-​con is freezing ²⁴⁄₇. Seriously. I didn’t even walk through the whole shop to-​date yet just because how cold it is. And this is from a local who’s spoiled by the indoor aircon for more than 30 years.

High qualified food and decent wine !
There are a lot of western style food ingredients affected by the history that Hong Kong was controlled by English government .
Most of all, its own iced tea in a plastic bottle is fantastic! On the way to the peak of mid level escalator, you are recommended to drop by there and open the bottle of lightly sweetened iced tea!

When it comes to real estate: location, location, location! This Marks and Spencer shop is located at the perfect location along the mid-​levels escalator to allow hungry commuters to stop in for some pre-​made meals, snacks, and other food items. I find the prices at the M&S stores in Hong Kong to be a bit high, and my friends from the UK tell me that they are much lower back in Europe. Regardless, all of the items I have gotten from this shop have been good. I particularly like their hummus.

This is my favorite supermarkets right now because it’s the closest and has most of the things I need.
I also like the brand because some of the branches actually sell passable fashion for clothing as well as the usual supermarket fare (food and booze).

I love you and I hate you. I used to go to the one in Amsterdam every single day. Sometimes for a salad for some light lunch, sometimes the cranberry cookie for afternoon energy supply. I can name a thousand reason for my stop there.
We do have local supermarket that offers fresh food. But it just does not look that fresh as M&S does. Their packaging, their sourcing, all highly selective — at least the way it looks.
When they opened in HK, I am happy for the bakery, the cheese session and the salad! As this is more than close to my office, I am a regular coffee stamp collector and cheese buyer. But all in all, I have to remind you it is too over priced here. Way too much.

It’s shameful how much time (and money) I spend in this store but it is right there, all shiny and wonderful, right on my way to work and right on my way back home… E.V.E.R.Y D.A.Y
I try to cook all of my own dinners so I can’t vouch for the ready made meals, but the snack and deli items are fantastic whilst the bakery is doing a serious job on my waistline. I can’t remember when I last had a hot cross bun before M&S SoHo opened but now they are a weekly treat as are real British chocolate bourbons.
It’s not all indulgent though — the rainbow superfood salad is loaded with healthy bits and the natural yoghurt makes mindful eating flavourful for once. The extra strong English breakfast tea bags are my all time favourite. Tea is good for you… Right?
Less healthy but oh so good is real Spanish chorizo. I always have trouble finding whole chorizo sausages in Hong Kong — inevitably popping into at least two supermarkets to snag one. However M&S have had stock each time I’ve tried as well as pre packed slices if you’re feeling lazy.
Unexpectedly, you can also snap up perfectly plump raspberries and blueberries as well as fruit salads and single serving juices which are great for breakfast in the office.
Yes it’s more expensive than the local supermarkets but it’s a prettier and far more pleasant shopping experience. A fantastic addition to my neighbourhood even if I do need to buy a whole new wardrobe as a result.

Just off the esco at Hollywood Road road, Marks and Spencer Food is; first, probably the coldest place in Hong Kong (come on guys, refrigerate the food, not the entire shop!), second, the best place to get British comfort food that you can cook at home.
M&S is basically a fancy grocery store, where all the food is imported from the UK, except the bread which is made in store. It sells a variety of ready meals, sandwiches, fresh and dry pastas, cook at home pizzas, sliced and packaged meats, pies, you get the idea. The freshest thing is the bread and some packaged fruits, as in they don’t sell veggies or raw meats like Wellcome.
This particular store has a small window seating area, and they do make coffee, so you can have your packed lunch (bought in store, obviously) there.
The food there is not cheap, airfares being what they are now, but sometimes you just need a Melton Mowbray pork pie, and no other will do. It’s interesting to see how such a staple of the UK has become a luxury brand in HK, but most importantly I can now get a cook at home lamb shank. At least that’s Christmas dinner sorted this year!
For my local friends, you should visit, just to see how we Brits wine and dine at home. For my UK friends, come and get a pie — it’s all good. And with the AC cranked to the max, it will feel like winter in Newport…
