Thanks to groupon and a more flexible schedule The low-​maintenance me has become more adventurous in my beauty régime. Desperately needing a jump start in my weightloss I’ve bought a slimming package to try out. In reality I’m skeptical about how these things work… where does the fat go?! We will soon find out.
Upon arrival I noticed that the spa is quite pretty. Not overly luxurious or gaudy, somewhat like a classy girlfriend’s apartment. As I announced my arrival to the receptionist I noticed that the full team are from a day spa I used to frequent years and years ago. Instantly I knew what sort of service to expect, which I will speak of later.
At the pristine changing room I changed into paper underpants and a terry cloth tube dress. I then was led into a small treatment room (large enough for a small bed and whatever machine that would be working on you) where I lay face down and caught up with the lady who used to give me facials some 8 years ago. She smeared my body with crisco and proceeded to vacuum my thighs with what looked like a curling kettle connected to a small stairmaster. I sort of saw the irony then.
Anyway my hour was up. I got changed and went back up the front desk where the receptionists followed up with my experience. This is when they would subtly play on your insecurities (as one would) in hopes of selling more beauty packages. I of course left in a hurry and had to start thinking of 7 more excuses so I can enjoy my full groupon package without having to spend any more than whatever I paid.
This is also a great place for married celeb spotting. In that brief one hour I already saw a supermodel and a semi-​retired actress.
In short, they have excellent beauticians who does great eyebrow shaping. They give fantastic facials and good slimming treatment. Their receptionists are even more fantastic sales who can be pushy when push comes to shove. This salesmanship reminded me why I stopped going to the previous place.
