Milk Top

If I’m not in the area, I make a special point to stop by the counter. Their ice cream is perfect on a hot or cold day and I love their coconut flavor. It has shreds of real coconut inside.
I also recommend trying their milk flavored ice cream. It taste like frozen milk. Very unique.
The counter is located under the escalator towards the check out.

First off, I’d just have to say: Only in Asia, would you be able to find such, what I would consider, delicious «Asian» flavors! Their products are imported from Japan as they use Japanese milk to produce their ice cream. Anything with Japanese milk always tastes amazing.
I’ve walked pass this ice cream shop a handful of times but never stopped since I was never in the mood for ice cream. This time, I wanted to try what this shop has to offer, so I decided to just go for it. And…, I am so glad I did! I absolutely love all the different flavors they have to offer. Like I said, they have tons of «Asian» flavors which I have never seen, nor could I ever get, at ice cream stores in the states, etc. Some of their flavors include: black sesame, red bean, milk tea, green tea, and the list goes on.
I was only going to get two scoops, so I debated hard between milk tea, black sesame, and red bean. Ultimately, I chose milk tea and black sesame since I’ve had red bean quite a bit recently and felt that the milk tea and black sesame flavors were more unique. Both scoops tasted really good and left my tummy extremely satisfied. The dinner I had earlier that night was not good, so I was happy to end the night with some yummy ice cream dessert.

When you say ice cream, the first name that comes to people’s minds is probably Haagen Dazs. If it’s not Haagen Dazs, then it’s probably Holly Brown, or Lab Made, or another one of those big names.
I think it’s a shame that Milk Top isn’t as recognized as other ice cream brands. Perhaps it’s the fact that the only location in HK island is in Sogo, and the others are in more remote areas like Lai Chi Kok and Tsueng Kwan O? I’m not sure, but it is indeed an underrated brand that’s not talked about enough!
Milk Top has some of the coolest flavors I’ve seen. Some off the top of my head include red wine, ginger and cream cheese. I have actually tried the cream cheese before, and it tastes a little strange, but in a good way! I’ve asked to try the red wine flavor at the counter, and it’s not bad too. It does taste like red wine, but much sweeter. For all you traditionalists out there, fear not, because Milk Top does great vanillas and chocolates and strawberries too. Some of my favorite flavors from Milk Top include fresh milk, sumiyaki coffee and sesame. One thing about Milk Top is that all their flavors are extremely creamy and milky, which I find is lacking in local-​made ice creams like Nestle!
Besides ice cream, Milk Top does great pudding as well. So far, I’ve only tried the regular milk pudding and I love it. It tastes exactly like fresh milk, and it’s really silky too. They’ve got other flavors of the pudding like milk tea and chocolate, which sound absolutely delicious. They’re definitely on my to-​try list!
Milk Top is also quite a bit cheaper than other brands of ice cream. I remember years ago, one scoop was only $ 19, and now it’s up to $ 25, if I’m not wrong, which actually is still cheaper than many other places (I’m looking at you, Lab Made!) I only wish that there were more locations of Milk Top — I just found out very recently that there is one in Yata in Sha Tin, so I’m happy to say I’ll be getting my Milk Top fixes a lot more often out!
