Shau Kei Wan Main Street East

If you ever have the luxury of time during your lunch hours– preferably a two to three hour lunch– then this is a place I would recommend that you visit at least twice. Twice to be exact because I have two different places on this street that I have been and I think its worth the trek over. Shau Kei Wan main Street East is seemingly a purely residential area (I say this but remember this is Hong Kong) that hides a lot of hidden gems. At every lunch time and weekend you will see queues forming outside certain restaurants because they are actually widely known as being one of the best at what they serve.
You have the fish ball noodle house which many celebrities have been before– you can see who has with the photos and signatures on the wall. I will be honest in admitting that I’m not sure how many shops they have on the street because there seems to be one every two steps across the street. The other being a curry house that has received a Michelin star for being a curry house for value– its cheap however you look at it. the lunch sets do present good value (circa 70 if my memory serves me correct). At least you can tell people you had a Michelin lunch today.
The other bonus, especially for drivers, is that fact that you can park right infront of the place that you are going– po po rarely comes around and you will be notified by the time they get here. Worse comes worse you can always park at the carpark in the middle of the street. Public transport is good, as ever with Hong Kong island with the MTR and bus terminus steps away from it.
