Located in a desired area for tourists(Tsim Sha Shui) and barflies(Knutsford Terrace). This«4-star» hotel is quite old. Recent renovations mostly apply to the lobby/restaurant and the top three or so room floors. The rest of the hotel looks much like it did in the 90’s(built in ’92). Maid service comes every day to replace towels and rearrange bedding(I noticed they simply redid the beds rather than replace the bedding). There are better stays in HK.

Pros: * Awesome location– less than a 5 min walk from the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR subway station(which is 2 stops from Central) and in the center of the city. Tons of restaurants and shops in the area. Supermarket right outside to the right. * We were lucky to receive a free upgrade to Premium Room on the 13th floor. Our room was modern, clean and had an unobscured view of the cityscape. Our king bed was very comfortable. Hairdryer, cotton pads, razor, plate of chocolate nut treats, 2 bottles of water were among things included. Our shower had great water pressure. It’s small compared to American Hotels, but hey, it’s Hong Kong, what do you expect? * Many reviews complained about the incline to get to hotel. Yes. There is an incline but its physically easy and short. Make sure to enter hotel through B1 parking garage to avoid the steps to official entrance. Honestly, after all the dim sum we ate everyday, I was glad to be doing some exercise before relaxing in bed. * If you need to print important travel documents, you can email to front desk at and they can print it out for you gratis. * Staff was professional, hospitable, and super friendly. Our cleaning lady was so sweet that when we rushingly checked out she quickly informed front desk that we left some clothing in the wardrobe. * Strong and fast WiFi Cons: * The control for A/C did not work properly and temperatures wavered from one extreme to the other. Even when we manually set it on low and 30 degrees Fahrenheit, the room was as frigid as a refrigerator. When we turned it off, it became humid and stuffy. * We really liked our super thick and hot blankets, but we wished that they provided thinner sheets we could use when we had the A/C off. Tip: * Getting to Stanford from airport: 1) Take the Airport bus #A21. Get off at station #12, Kimberley Road, walk back 1 block and arrive Observatory Rd. Fare HK$ 33/person. Prepare exact change. This will take around 1 hr. 2) Airport Express Train to Kowloon. Fare HK$ 70/person. You can either take a cab or the Complimentary Airport Express Shuttle Bus Service K4 and get off at Stop 4: Empire Hotel Kowloon, Tsim Sha Tsui. Hotel is literally around the corner in under 1 min walk. Getting back to Airport: * Stanford provides free shuttle service to Kowloon Airport Express Station Loved our stay and highly recommend!

This is our home away from home in HK. Comfortable. Small rooms but has everything one needs. Quiet. Just up the street from Nathan Road on a quiet, tree-lined street called Observatory Road(across the street from the HK Observatory). There are tons of restaurants in the area and close to the MTR and an easy walk to the Star Ferry or the China Ferry docks to Macau. An older hotel with non-smoking floors. Big, huge, comfy pillows, but the beds are not as soft as they used to be … I think they’ve replaced them with harder matresses …
