Tasty Congee & Noodle Wantun Shop

I think this is the original Tasty shop. I prefer the decoration at this place than the IFC Mall shop. It is more 雅. The menu is same as the IFC shop and food quality is also consistent.

I live close to this Tasty Congee restaurant, it is one of the rare ones in Hong Kong where I really don’t have to line up for. The other locations are always jam-​packed with people, I guess that’s the perks of being in Happy Valley.
This is my to-​go place every time I get sick. It’s easy, fast and always yummy. The last time I came here, I had the flu and could really only stomach something really light. I normally like dishes that are very flavourful, so thinking about getting a plain congee always scares me. I opted for a meatball congee. The meatball is a pork meatball and very flavourful, even with my congested system, I could taste it and it really did make my day.
I wanted to get a bbq pork pastry as well, but they were (as always) sold out. I’ve been here at least two dozen times but every time I try to order it, it’s either not available or sold out. That is a true disappointment –_​–
The other dishes I’ve had here were always consistently delicious. I really enjoy the dry «mixed» noodles they serve. My favorite one is the one with red spicy pork. It is traditionally served with a bowl of wonton soup. The one at Tasty Congee is particularly good because this dish is supposed to have a bit of a spicy kick. The balance of those flavours is done remarkably well here! I only wished for the dishes to be slightly bigger (I guess that’s my waistline telling me to stop eating).
The atmosphere here is casual, which is nice sometimes to come down for a quick bite. The only other thing I would comment on the restaurant is, they will only do deliveries IF they are not busy/​have enough people working, so not 100% reliable on the delivery service. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this restaurant.
