Hong Kong is one of the richest city states in the world and we, along with other developed countries, all face the problem of excess resource. That’s a bold statement in itself and probably doesn’t hit home hard enough. Now let me ask you this– when was the last time you checked through your closet and actually check the stuff you really need? I’m willing to bet that everybody has some clothes that they bought, forgot about, don’t really like or somehow doesn’t quite fit any more. In any case, I’m just trying to say that we really are, as a society, filled up with stuff that we have too much of and don’t really need.
I have been coming to this location to donate items of clothing and related products (e.g. backpacks) for many years now. There are many residential areas which organize their own recollection services/​schemes though I am wary of what they actually do with the donated products once they get their hands on them. There have been cases in the past where the proceeds from the sale of such items didn’t go to people who needed it and that really got me off donating to these private organizations.
Salvations Army is an international organization that’s recognized everywhere– I guess their charity shops and other scheme are transparent enough for me at least. At the end of the day we trying to help those in need, not to enrich people who will take your stuff away.
Do take note that they don’t take in other items and best to check with them if you have something else in mind.
