nom nom nom nom… i want a burger from triple o’s after reading some of the reviews on here! burgers are the ultimate comfort food, think about it, it has everything all in one, starch, meat, veggies, dairy. what’s there not to love? Triple o’s does it well, and not at a steep price either. There are so many burger joints popping up recently, sometimes you just want an old fashioned burger, and that’s what you’ll be getting at triple o’s. It’s a taste of canada that I really miss. Triple O’s is formerly from the White Spot chain, a canadian family chain restaurants that are traditionally situated in shopping malls. They haven’t brought the whole concept over, in fact, they only brought over their«gas station» version over. Triple o’s are traditionally located at gas stations throughout canada, so drivers could grab a quick bite. When it first came to hk, it was in food courts in the likes of city super. I used to go when i was working close by. It always made my day. of course after the potato wedges and all, i would clearly fall into a food coma after lunch but man, was it ever worth it! They have a few burger options, my favourite, from beginning to the end, is the mushroom burger. They use a 100% pure beef patty(at least you know it’s the real thing), covered with sautéed mushrooms and topped with a triple o sauce. Ahhhh… i’m craving it now. The burger itself cost less than $ 60. For that quality of beef, it’s a steal. The other signature are their milkshakes. White Spot in Canada is known for its milkshakes, so of course they have brought it here, comes in 3 flavours, strawberry, vanilla and chocolate. nom nom nom.

Sometimes, after all is said and done, no matter how much gourmet food you’ve had, how many Michelin Starred restaurants you’ve had the chance to dine upon, how many wonderful chefs you’ve had the pleasure of tasting their talent, all that aside, there is just nothing that comes close to a good Ol’ classical burger. The hot fresh bun, the juicy beef, the cheese and oozes out, your teeth when it sinks are all experiences that only a good old fashioned burger can give you. Tripple O’s is known for their inexpensive and tasty burgers, I’ve tried their mushroom burger, it was recommended to me by the waitress but almost immediately after I paid, I regretted not ordering the signature. With all this fusion foods going around, sometimes I just want to stick to the classic way someone makes the food it was originally created to taste. However, I was not disappointed. The mushroom burger, was creamy with cheese oozing out and sautéed mushrooms perfectly placed on top of the patty giving it more texture and bite. I was very pleased. Their fries are a little bigger wedged than I prefer also a little soggy. But after days of ramen and Chinese food, I am not complaining here. My friend ordered the fish burger, which I also tasted. It had tartar sauce in it and they also give you a wedge of lemon which reminded me of fish and chips which then lead me to an amazing idea of searching for the best fish and chips in town! NEXTMISSION! Overall Tripple O’s has good tasty burgers and you can’t beat the price. Their location in Pacific Place has an amazing owner who serves his customers really nicely and you don’t feel like you’re in a fast food joint. If you’re ever in PP like I always am, be sure to check it out.

If you are after a decent burger, but don’t fancy paying a wedge for it, try Triple O’s. There are a few dotted around HK, but by far my favourite is the one in Wan Chai, mainly due to the slightly surly manager, who, whilst always very polite and courteous, always makes me think I am being disciplined by my Dad. The menu is burgers, with a few different varieties of topping, and sides like; poutine, onion rings, salad. The best, though, has to be; the fish burger, which is like proper British battered fish in a bun. Far too many folks make their fish burgers like MacD’s, so this chunky battered number is a great change. And also the veggie burger, which is a great rice and bean burger, a decent size and full of the goodness. We don’t want a portobello mushroom posing as a burger, we want a burger(just with no meat!). Other lovely things on the menu include their shakes, which I find a good blend of sweet and creamy, without being too sickly. It is essentially a fast food joint, so you pay and get your food in paper. There is usually a short wait as they make to order, but only a couple of minutes. The restaurants are plastic tables and chairs, and you have to bus your own rubbish, so it does feel like any other fast food joint. The only difference is the food is just that much better and fresher. Definitely give the fish burger a go, it’s really good.
