Hands down, the best Korean fried chicken I’ve had in Hong Kong yet. Their signature padak chicken has a huge serving of green onions and comes with the surprise of deep fried rice cake and potstickers. The sauce on the perfectly fried pieces of boneless chicken is dangerously spicy, but definitely hits the spot. We also had their egg which had onions and ooey, gooey melted cheese inside. My only thought about the egg is that there was too much sauce on it, but it’s not a deal breaker. Now that the Sai Ying Pun MTR station is open, Uncle Padak is only a short but uphill two block trek! If you’re in the area and craving solid KFC, definitely check out Uncle Padak in this hip and trendy area.

Fried chicken. Plain and simple. Chicken comes in the form of wings or drummies, bones or no bones, spicey or not spicey. A couple sides options, beer or no beer or non-alcoholic drink… this is the extent of the difficult decisions you will have to make over your meal at Uncle Padak. We had non-spickey, sweet and sourish sauce, boneless, fried chicken(it comes on a big plate and the pieces are small and handable, almost like large chicken bites). It was pretty good for fried chicken bites. Hot, juicy, flavorful. I think the next time I would skip the sauce, get it plain and eat it with salt and pepper. Seemed like mostly dark meat. We also had their egg roll, which is really like an egg omelet of sorts. And as odd as the picture might look, it was really delicious. Chicken or the egg? Why worry… you can have both! The Kornenbourg served on tap was cold, large and served in a proper glass. We went in on a Friday around 6PM or so without a reservation(who would have thunk you needed a resy at a fried chicken joint). They took us, but the place indeed filled up fast. If you are pressed to go and want to enjoy your time, maybe a good idea to call ahead. Meal was not expensive, establishment is small, staff was welcoming and friendly. We will go back!

Uncle Padak is a great addition to the SYP refurbishment. I’m refreshed to see that there are different options now, especially with Korean food. The food was quite tasty. Being a chain in Korea and China, Uncle Padak serves standard KFC and your typical chi-mek offerings. Service was quite good and the Kpop videos always keep me entertained. The chicken was quite tender and juicy, and delicious. The signature Padak Chicken comes with a generous helping of green scallions on top of piping hot fried chicken. Too spicy for you? Cool down with the tangy radish pickles served on the side. I like how you can also make your own combos of ½ and ½ chicken flavors for those that are indecisive. The Odeng Tang(fishcake soup) was also very comforting and tasty. Overall, I am happy that Uncle Padak can satisfy my KFC craving now and I dont need to cross the harbour!
