Wonderful Alterations

With the myriad of alteration shops around Hong Kong — seriously, just poke your head down almost any side street or up most flights of stairs no you’re sure to bump into at let one — its a matter of finding one that you feel comfortable with.
I felt I was leaving my blood orange trousers in good hands with the ladies at Wonderful Alterations. While they didn’t get me to try them on (that might have had something to do with the baby strapped to my back), they whipped out the measuring tape and talked to me about where I wanted the new hem to go.
There were questions about the height of shoe I wanted to wear them with, and when I asked if it could be done without actually cutting the fabric — I’m wearing flats now, but want to be able to wear them with heels in the future — the seamstress assured me that that wouldn’t be a problem and they would be hemmed by hand. The whole process took a week and cost Hkd80, and I must say I am very pleased with the result.
