Absolutely awesome, the bartenders are really friendly and know their drinks. The music playlist is also the best I’ve ever heard. If you want to drink in Prague then this is the place to go.

After an hour boat tour on the river, I wound my way along gas lamp lit cobblestone streets by high end retail shops and found my way here. It’s a cozy Dublin style pub where you can drink whiskey among English speakers. The menu is classic pub fare, but I got a green curry. Warning, I’m going to ramble a little bit. If I don’t know any locals, I’ll check out the NYT36 hours column. A year ago, there was a pop up kitchen with excellent curries here. Now there are only three choices, but mine was good, standard for a decent Thai place. I don’t really want to eat pub food, however. That and the service would keep me away. I was enjoying my meal and my drink at the bar, and the bartender asked me to move over for some regulars who called and wanted to sit at the bar. That annoyed me, because there were two seats. He wanted to interrupt my meal to give them more room, and they needed it. They were pretty big people who had difficulty sitting upright. But he didn’t warn me about a two inch drop that can send your chair toppling, if you don’t know it’s there. The friendly man to my right warned me. That bartender was irresponsible, and musical chairs as you eat sucks. In summary, thanks to the potato famine, you can swing a dead cat and find a dozen Irish bars in every major capital. There was nothing special about this bar that would make me return here in particular.

Draft Guinness, Kilkenny, O’Hara’s IPA and Magner’s cider are your Irish choices. If you prefer Czech pick from the(ubiquitous) Pilsner Urquell, Gambrinus light and Kozel dark. About 50 Czk for pints of the local brews, 100 for imports. The place is blessedly smoke free! Maybe like me you’ve read glowing reviews of the sexy curry company that once shared space here. alas the lady curry chef(Sofia S.) ended the partnership in late summer 2015, so there’s no more pop-up rogan josh at the James Joyce. If it’s any consolation, the menu includes(somewhat inauthentically) a lamb, a chicken and a prawn curry. I tried the South Indian hot madras, a spicy chicken curry, which was a very warm(truly solid medium heat) meal for 300CZK. Enjoyed it. Still can’t help wondering what I missed tho. The menu looks like any chain bar in the U.S.: nachos, wings, potato skins, chili, burgers, plus Irish standards like bangers & mash, fish & chips. Oh also those curries. Vegetarian rating: 3 stars, you can get nachos, a drunken cheese toastie, a Greek salad, the famous fries with cheddar, or a veggie burger. You can even pick up a can of Irn-Bru or a bag of Walker’s crisps. Irish, Scottish, English, whatever, they’re flexible here.

This place was fine, a very average bar in old town prague. The tap list consists of Mangers, Guinness, and a few czech brews. The ambiance is very faux Irish. The music in the background was American pop. The crowd was all English speakers and mostly American, some tourists and the others were expats who now live in Prague. Service was adequate. We ordered the steak fries with Swiss cheese, it was very good. The grilled cheese was skimpy on the Irish cheese and heavy on the onions. The bread was tasty though. Overall three stars due to the below average grilled cheese sandwich, ok beer selection, and good steak fries.

We had rented an apartment for our Prague vacation from VRBO, and this little pub was right next door. Very welcoming and friendly staff, speaking English if necessary, English menu if needed, and excellent food. Great view of old town from our comfortable seats on the sidewalk, and we spent a great afternoon, reading and watching the Porches, BMWs, Audis, Land Rovers and a Bentley drive by on the cobblestone street.
