Recommend it to everyone. Yes you normally have to wait but it gives you an idea of what others are buying so I often try something different just to have on my cheese board. Staff excellent and really know their stuff.

Infinitely more interesting than buying cheese in a supermarket. An enjoyable cheese buying experience with an interesting display of cheeses and pungent aromas. Dear but then so is everything remotely good these days — you get what you pay for. I J Mellis have their HQ in Edinburgh, where they have 3 shops. They also have shops in St Andrews, Glasgow and, of course, Aberdeen. There are no other shop-based cheesemongers in the city that I know of(Peckhams ?). I think Aberdeen needs shops like I J Mellis so I’m glad the shop appears to be doing well. Highly recommended !

This is a unique shop. Bit of a novelty. If you want to buy cheese as a christmas gift then buy it in November or possible October as they have queues down rosemount at christmas time!!!

This is a fantastic cheese shop and possibly the only one in Aberdeen. It is a small shop and is always busy, however they usually have lots of staff on and they are always cheerful, helpful and very patient while you make your choices. There is always big slabs of cheese piled up and the staff are always willing to cut a little off and let you try the different varieties. There is a lot of cheeses from around the world but it is also nice that they have local cheeses to try and choose also. Prices are good, especially as you can take as little as you like so you can try lots of varieities. They also sell grocery items such as flour, pasta and milki and have a chill cabinet. A lovely addition is the big ham they have where they can slice off parma ham and the huge parmesan wheels in the window! Smell can be a little overpowering at first but it is a great place. Parking can be difficult on Rosemout but worth it.
