We found ourself diverted away from our original lunchtime choice because of traffic, and saw we were passing this place, urgently needing to get settled in somewhere quite soon, as our little boy was hungry. So, we pulled in here.
I’d avoided Beefeater places, assuming them to be under par. Much like Ferrero Rochet and Walls’ Viennettas, I’d imagined them as something that seemed quite swish two decades ago, but run of the mill now.
But I was very pleasantly surprised indeed. I never thought I’d be giving five stars to a Beefeater.
The pub was roomy and welcoming. Nice enough but not extraordinary in any away. Passing staff were warm and friendly. Most other customers seemed chirpy enough and smiled at our little lad as he toddled around before we seated him.
The menu was full of options and typical of these type of places, I’d guess. Burgers, fish and chips, gammon and so on, but also things like nachos and Chilli Con Carne.
I chose a smoked paprika chicken burger at £8.25. It was large, delicious and not at all dry. It came with lots of fries and a dish of really good and varied salad. I thoroughly enjoyed it. My wife enjoyed her burger which was cheaper as it was included in a lunchtime deal, also giving her a free side: she chose garlic bread, which we gave to our son, along with a £1 portion of corn on the cob.
Yes, you go and order at the bar, and carry your own drinks to your table, but even so, our interaction with the main staff member that day, Dan, I think he was called, lacked nothing. He was polite, humorous and worked hard in making everything very pleasant for us.
So, there you are. I’ve eaten at a Beefeater, and I can’t wait to return. Hope it’s as good next time.

This is a beefeater pub aswell as having rooms as a Premier Inn. I haven’t stayed here but would expect the rooms to be standard of that chain. The Beefeater gets very busy and they often have deals and special offers advertised outside. We have eaten on here on a couple of instances with mixed results. Sunday lunch roast dinners were quite disappointing but on a different occassion the steak and chips and other main meals ordered were good. Likewise mixed service, sometimes good and other times erratic, slow, forgot parts of order etc. On the plus side very kid friendly and large dining room with space for buggies etc. Restuarant is full of hustle and bustle so it is a relaxed place to go with noisy children. Lots of parking and outside garden area facing main road. Situated midway between Bracknell and Ascot on the main road.
