Ashton Market

I visited the market hall for the first time last week after it reopened after the dreadful fire an few years ago. I was pretty dissapointed really. Just not the same atmosphere. All very open. Maybe it was the fact that there were just not many people out shopping. TRADE LOOKS LIKE ITS REALLY DECLINED ALL OVER.
The usual stalls, but I have to say they looked quite expensive to other shops for the same items around Ashton.

well the market has now reopened and its great all the old faces are back great for all your bread muffins meat and veg.

I cannot really comment on the indoor market as I use it very little since the old market hall burnt down, but the outdoor market is great. It has everything you can think of on offer and every Sunday there is an open Table-​top sale which means anyone with anything can book a stall and sell things. This is a great opportunity to get rid of some of your old junk what is one mans rubbish is another mans treasure as the saying goes. It is cheap to book a table and very simple its also surprisingly much fun. Once a month there is also a farmers market which is always packed, offering everything from home cooked cakes and jams to fresh fruit and vegetables. Once the new indoor market re-​opens the outdoor market will only improve so give it a try, either as a seller or a customer.

Since the fire, this has never been as good as it once was — qite disappointing. Food choice is quite good and there’s some basic cafés for refreshments. If you’re looking for odds and ends, things like zips, buttons etc. there’s a good haberdashery. Clothes stores not wonderful but plenty of socks etc. to be found. There’s a few music stores and ornaments galore. The outdoor market has an excllent flee market once a week.

A traditional old fashioned market. Since the mrket hall burnt down a few years ago the town has been quieter. But there is a new hall being built and the open market goes from strength to strength. A brilliant shopping centre is there too. Plenty of eating places.
