The boyfriend and I were heading to canoe/cliff jump for the weekend, when we noticed we were running a bit early for our scheduled canoeing departure. Not surprising if you know me and know I’m always early to everything. No bother, we saw signs for this place, so we pulled over to check it out. We were feeling a bit peckish so we decided to sit in the café at first. My boyfriend ordered a coffee and the leek and potato soup which came with a slice of bread and some butter. I went for a fruit scone with jam and butter and a full hot chocolate. My boyfriend said the soup was delicious and my scone was pretty tasty as well. The star of the show was my hot chocolate. I’m not usually one to order drinks anymore with loads of sugar and such, but we were on a weekend getaway, so why not. YOLO. Ha! The hot chocolate came in a larger mug, with whipped cream, marshmallows and a chocolate sugar sprinkling on top. It was piping hot and there were about three extra marshmallows on the side, which I ate a few and put the rest to melt in the hot chocolate. SO good. The staff were friendly, and we were in and out and on our way. We noticed later at dinner that one of the girls who worked at this café also worked at the pub where we had dinner. Anyway, after we paid, we wandered about the rest of the building which had a gift shop, a kids clothing and toy shop and a woman’s clothing shop. I’ve never seen so many things in one shop. It was great. After our wee wander, we decided to head out down the road. Great little café, great set of shops. If you’re in the area, you should stop!

One day in July… Me, hubby and our 3 day old baby were on our way from a wedding service in Milngavie to the reception in Callander. Knowing that canapes and horses dovres were not going to hit the spot and dinner wasn’t for ages we pulled into this tea room as we passed. We had toasties and tea and a few slices of absolutely delicious homemade cake.(Baby had some breastmilk.)The staff were really lovely and the price was very reasonable. They have adequate baby changing facilities in the disable loo also. I really enjoyed finding this place and although it was a wee bit out of the way i would definitely stop here again, i might even plan our next day trip to the country so that it passes by here round about lunchtime!
