I will never deal with Foxtons again. We found a lovely flat we wanted to go for — made an offer which has been accepted. 2 days later we signed a contract (Friday) and after weekend we paid deposit and fees in full. 2 days later we paid 6 months rent in advance. We suppose to move in 3 days later– on Friday. On Thursday at 1pm we received a call from agent saying we can’t move in because there was a higher offer given (in it less than 24 hours befire move in day).
Need to mention that we went trough all the procedures and it was succesfully accepted (referencing, proof of cash etc).
We have been advised that once we pay deposit and 6 months in advance the property should be taken off the market and secured for us. Is that even legal?
Loads of moral distress, expenses and time wasted! Stay away!
