I came to be at Jumping Java by a strange sequence of events; firstly I had ordered some event accessories that didn’t arrive so I had to venture to Bangor to pick some new ones up, then I went in to a café further up High Street but unfortunately they stopped serving food at 2pm, then on the trip back to my car an unbelievable hunger came over me and I found myself stumbling in to Jumping Java with an ache in my belly. To be honest I had never really considered eating here. JJ has a canteen vibe to it, everything from the red trays you collect your food on to the plastic seats. It’s bright and airy inside and there’s loads of seating. If you’re not with kids you might want to sit towards the front of the café to avoid the play area. I ordered a Caesar Wrap and a flat white. On ordering the chef came out of the kitchen to tell me that they didn’t have any lettuce and ‘was rocket ok?’ — at this point I was so famished I would have eaten weeds so that was no issue, but I liked that he came out to tell me. When the wrap came I was shocked about how packed it was, chicken was literally falling out. Even the presentation was top notch, which I had not expected. The wrap cost £5.25 and was worth every penny. The service was great — from the server to the chef they were amiable and helpful. One tiny negative was that they were slow to clear tables but it was busy and there was one lone server who was concentrating on feeding rather than clearing which is understandable. Overall Jumping Java is a perfect High Street pit stop if you want to dump your kids in the play area and get a bit if peace and quiet or if you want to take advantage of their free WiFi.

The idea of jumping java is superb. Drop kids in play area and they give you a buzzer as if you are waiting for your table in Frankie and Bennys. Get yourself some lunch(good selection) and a well deserved coffee. Perfect. Start to sip coffee and take first bite of sandwich… Buzzer goes off. Child unhappy. This process repeats itself a few times until you give up and let the child sit with you. I have brought my nephew here several times and each time I say to myself«he’s older now, he will love it»… Wrong. The problem is, if your child is on his own they like to come see you or at least know they have the option. In here it’s like you have locked them away and insisted they have fun. It just didn’t work for us. I guess it depends on the child and size of your group. But if you take one small toddler and expect peace — good luck.

I really like this place! Jumpin Java Kitchen is really great and very much directed at mums where they can have a coffee morning and let their kids play in the wee play area. The food in here is the biggest attraction for me. They have really great Breakfasts and the fry’s are really tasty and tastes really fresh! The lunch menu is great too and I too am a huge fan of their baked potatoes. But they do awesome wraps here too which are really fresh and really delicious! The staff are great too and really warm and friendly. Great place that I love to visit!

I really like this place. If it was more local to me, it would be somewhere I would frequent a lot more often. They do absolutely amazing food, and for a really cheap price! They do great breakfast fries, sandwiches, sodas, omelettes and pancakes. For lunchtime they do baked potatoes(what I always have!!) and they are proper baked potatoes, burgers, wraps, tortillas, soup, toasties, pasta, wedges, vegetairan options, sandwiches… you name it, they’ve got it! Sometimes I would be very cautious of places with large menus — usually the larger the menu the worse the quality, but this is not the case here! Inside, it is modern and stylish yet comfortable, and the staff are reasonably friendly, however prepare to be met with some confusion if you dare to deviate from the menu! Nevertheless, I’ve not had any problems, and due to the selection, quality, and price you get, there are definitely no complaints from me!

Another of Bangor’s wee coffee shops with nothing really to write home about. It is a little bit bland on the inside and doesn’t realy have any character or personality to mention. It is just another coffee shop for middle class mothers to sit and catch up with their friends. There is nothing the matter with that, but it just isn’t for me. There is a wee play park in this place which I guess is great for the clientelle that they are looking for but as far as I’m concerned I’d rather have some good music on or just somewhere to sit and do my crossword. Nothing the matter with this place, although it is a little bit pricey.
