One of the best places to go out in Bangor for the cocktails alone. They come in jam jars or tea pots, which has been the novelty for a while now; but it’s the Rabbit Rooms cocktail ingredients that are fairly unique. ‘The Hobo’ has buckfast, cooking brandy, lime and orange served up with a brown paper bag, classy ain’t the word! Their ‘cup of Joe’ is Espresso, Chocolate Tequila and absolute vanilla. They have the traditional French Martini, Caipirinha and Margaritas too. Good choice of beers. They have great deals on food throughout the week half price ribs and half price mussels etc. I have been to enjoy the cocktails a few times and found the atmosphere great and really good entertainment

I was a birthday here last night and it was the first time I’d ever been upstairs. It’s perfect for a party as its there to rent out for private functions. It was very spacious I could imagine you could have a good size party here. There is a small dance-floor you can go up and throw your crazy shapes after one to many. If you wanted you could hire a DJ and have plenty of room for his equipment. But my party chose to use a phone and play it through there sound system which was equally as good. The bar is quite small so if it was a full house I could imagine it would take abit of time to get served but nothing major. The staff are very friendly aswell. Downstairs is just a public bar, i would say a crowd ranging from mid twenties up. So maybe not great for a younger crowd. The bar is very small so it can get packed very quick and with not many seats you could end up standing most of the night. Great choice of drinks and cocktails. Would maybe be a great bar to start on and move elsewhere.

My friends have always described me as the unfillable human bin and I’m by no means ashamed of this. I recently visited the rabbit rooms for lunch and was absolutely horrified with myself when there was still food on my plate that I couldn’t physically eat as I was so full up. The food was absolutely outstanding and the staff extremely friendly and couldn’t of been nicer to me and my friends I will definitely be back

Relaxed atmosphere, great food, friendly helpful staff and good entertainment at the weekend. The Rabbit Rooms is a great place for a night out. Try the mussels or a loaded burger — you won’t be disappointed!

The Rabbit Rooms is one of my favourite places to go. The food here is excellent, I have never had a bad meal. With promo nights, such as half price mussels on a Monday, you can enjoy a delicious dinner at very reasonable prices, and believe me the portions are huge!!! The sweet potato fries are an absolute must try. Upstairs, the large windows in the restaurant allow a scenic view of the marina and sea. Downstairs has a more cosy feel, especially if you are lucky enough to secure one of the big armchairs by the open fire. The place is decorated with what I think are quirky and interesting pieces of artwork, I have often spent time reading the quotes on the walls. If you are into your whiskeys and rums, then this is the bar for you with a vast selection of both. Their teapot cocktails offer something a bit different, my recommendation being cherry bomb. To be honest there is something for everyone’s taste, my friends and I have been known to buy them out of prosecco on occasion… The bar staff are always friendly and helpful, offering up suggestions of something new to try. The doormen are fantastic craic and there is always a bit of banter when you go out for a smoke. Finally, the live music is fantastic, they’ll even sing happy birthday if requested!

This was Bangor’s original quirky bar and because of this it was really popular, I hadn’t been in a few years and since I last visited there have been a few similar style bars pop up in Bangor. Rabbit Rooms has always had a good reputation for food and this is the reason we visited just after Christmas. They have offers on most days of the week like Half price Ribs and mussels and they also have student offers so if you’re lucky enough to have an NUS card make sure you flash it! Due to how busy it was the day I visited we dined upstairs instead of the main bar, I actually preferred this as we were sat next to the window which has excellent views over Bangor Marina. The staff were pleasant and polite in Rabbit Rooms and they certainly know their stuff, ask them a question about the food or drinks and they’ll have an answer! On their advice I went for the steak ciabatta with a tower of onion rings skewered on top accompanied by an Americano(free refills!). I found the food good but not exceptional, everything was as you’d expect. Not overly expensive and as mentioned they always have offers on so it won’t break the bank. Definitely worth a visit for a quick bite and a drink. If you haven’t been before you’ll like the odd décor and the grass covered menus.

Excellent service and pretty good food. Big improvement on last time we were here in 2012. Menu basic enough but staff and chef willing to provide alternatives if asked. We would come back again.

I’ve eaten here before but this is my first review. Tonight was my daughter’s 7th birthday and because of that fact(proof required) she ate for free. The staff are attentive, the food was brilliant, the deserts are incredible and the beer/cocktail selection is better than most other restaurants in the area. The rabbit rooms does what it set out to do very very well.

Great food! Friendly staff. Good service. Ya can’t ask for much more. Mind the bathroom. No bother to me. Just be keen on what to expect.

I was so annoyed when I walked past The Rabbit Rooms in Bangor a few weeks ago. Where was my beloved Black Boat — I’d only just discovered it and they had taken it away, or so I thought. The inside is a bit more modern but the layout and seating is more or less the same. It is quite a dark bar with a decent wee area to dance to the live bands that play there during the week and the weekends. The only thing I can ask the new owners to do is make sure there is toilet paper and paper towels in the toilets. Plus lets hope they have fixed the ladies toilet door!!! I am an Indie chick and I love my rock and roll bands as well as soul and blues — you can catch all these types of music from up and coming local bands — Saturday night is the best night! My favourite memory was watching a very drunk topless middle aged man do a forward roll right out the front door into the street!

It was always going to be hard for this place to replace the semi-legendary Black Boat which was the place to go for people of an indie disposition. The bar lay out has stayed the same but has attempted to go a bit more upmarket. It hasn’t went too far though and has a nice, lived in feeling with lots of seats and booths to take a load off and chill out. The staff are dead on and you can get a teapot of cocktails for an ok price of £8. There is live music on throughout the week and its never to packed but the small size of the bar means that there is always a nice atmosphere.
