Quite an odd little pub — actually I say little, just because on first look it seems that there is barely enough space for a few tables, the stools at the bar and the pool table just to the right of the entrance. However, head past the bar and downstairs and you’ll see what this place is all about — intimate gigs inside a cave-like tunnel. I’ve seen so many acts down here that I can no longer remember most of them. However, for acoustic music, you can’t beat this lovely little venue. Electric acts are also worth seeing here, but remember that it’ll be a sit down and appreciate the musicians vibe, rather than a dance around and bang you head place.

Very good Quiz Night every Thursday. Also, regular Live Music in the Cellar Bar. Food is not served at the Pub! However in the Gallery Room on the First Floor(Upstairs) you can order from your favourite take away for delivery. The menus of a few are provided as well as Plates and Cutlery. This is a great pub with a very Local atmosphere it also has a fair choice of beers. One of my favourite places to Relax in Bath.

Great pub, a little out of the way from the main sights and sounds of Bath. Good stop if you are in the area of Victoria Park or the Royal Crescent. Comfy and a good tap list, I would stop in here again if I were in the area. Had a quick dinner here, and it was standard, comfort pub food. Nothing particularly special perhaps, but 4 stars because I just got a good vibe from the place. Not so different from most British pubs, I think, but I could picture myself there all the time if it was in my neighborhood. I think the wine vault and live music might have more to offer than I had the privilege of experiencing.

Upstairs: traditional english pub Downstairs: funky live music venue. The popularity of St James Wine Vaults continues to grow with a massive variety of live music acts from acoustic singer song writers and jazz quartets to new talent and established local bands. There is pavement seating in front of this pretty pub — just what’s needed when it gets a bit hot and sweaty in the cellar bar. The real ale selection is a bit limited, but better than nothing!
