Great little pub on the Norfolk broads in an idyllic location. Best appreciated on a Summer’s day. Loads of outdoor seating and frequent music event, Morris dancing, etc. Very rustic but that’s all part of it’s charm. A broad range of beers, ales and ciders. Competent service. The food is not great though.

Lovely surprise on our cycle. You can catch a boat to Beccles from here as well. Well worth a visit

A great place to go. Good range of beers and ciders. Really good food. Loads of beer festivals in the summer and entertainment most weekends.

I wish I had had time to read bigedd2004’s review before coming. I had been told there was music on — but unfortunately I got the details wrong. The car park was full, so had a little walk from where the car was parked to get to the pub. It would be nicer if the approach was not so rough.

Went there for the May 1st Sunday activities. Lovely location, great garden. Fantastic event with Morris Dancers, May Pole and a Molly Play. Badly let down by very very very very slow service. Over 30 minutes to get to th bar to order a drink. When you get there they have run out of pitchers. One and a half hours from ordering food to getting it. This unfortunately is typical of the place. Alas the service is slooowwwww and the queues long every sunny weekend.

I’ll have to rate 3 stars for poor customer service. We made a special trip to the Inn(i’ll call it a special trip because of the time consuming rough track to the pub). This was a lunch time with the idea of a pint and meal. Unfortunately it was ages before we were served, staff were back and forth, on the phone and other things rather than serving. Then we were informed that they do not take credit cards, it would have helped to have informaton on the sign at the top of the track to save the time consuming journey.

Faultless! Go from the bridge in Beccles via the Big Dog Ferry — about 30 minutes to the Locks Inn — watch kingfishers and fishermen, spot marsh harriers in the sky and fish in the water. Puts you in the right mood for the afternoon. The food is fantastic; good wholesome fare, with no frills or fuss. Rapidly served by nice, friendly people in a pub with no mains electricity. They have frequent music events in the season, very popular with locals and visitors alike — and they have oil lamps and candles in the bar! Comforting and exciting atmosphere, too! There are always families, dogs, laughter and fun. The children, generally, behave very well because they are outside in the extensive gardens and not stuck with Mum & Dad in the bar! You may drive there, if you so wish, but beware of the sump-ripping potholes and go slowly down the mile-long track!
