Love this local chippy. John, Phyllis and the rest of the staff are always friendly and welcoming. I love the chicken strips with peppered sauce and great portion too. The chips are nice and the fish is good. Always a good trade but never overly busy.

Yum but bad. Bad but yum. That old fish and chips conundrum. Once you’ve made your decision to overload on fat and calories, embrace it and enjoy! Everyone knows that the fat and calories are cancelled out by a Diet Coke anyway!
Captain Cod’s always has a queue which to me is a good sign. Their fish and chips and, daringly, chicken gougons and chips are good good good and make a great once in a while blow out. The meal deal with gougons chips and gravy is my personal fav and the best hangover cure I have ever had. Pile on the salt and immerse yourslf in the guilty pleasure of it.
At different times of day there are good value special offers like but one pastie get one freeand the kids meals are good value too. Nip next door to the off licence for sme beer and you’ve got a meal that’s as far from gourmet as you can get but oh so very good. Just don’t let your neighbours see the wrappers.
