If you are a ‘person of appetite’(we don’t like the un-PC term greedy) then this place is for you. It’s one of those ‘eat as much as you can’ places, for a person of appetite this implied competitive challenge is most apt. There is a huge selection to choose from. A couple of similar places I’ve been in would tend to have a half dozen dishes and a half dozen sides to choose from, whereas the buffet king does its best to earn the ‘king’ title by having a couple of pages from your usual Chinese restaurant of choice all laid out before you. For a place that’s turning out the food like a production line to keep the serving bowls full the quality is surprisingly high. The food is pretty tasty and is always hot and always seems fresh, you really do get the impression that despite the selection size nothing is left sitting for long. The price, or more specifically the value for money is hard to estimate, as frankly it comes down to how much you eat, for me, its pretty good. The range of deserts is much smaller than the main, but then if you have room for desert you weren’t trying hard enough on the mains frankly. For a place where you are likely to be re-filling your plate(1,2,3,4 or 5+ times) the seating reflects the nature of the places as you are packed in a little on long tables, so if its busy and you are near the middle it can be tricking getting up and down to the actual buffet. Although having said that you’ll probably be glad of the exercise.

I used to love China Buffet King because they did Tofu and Lotus Root(both great for vegetarians like me, and hard to get in Northern Ireland). they served it in garlic sauce and it was my favourite. but now they put it in a oyster sauce! why would you put Tofu and Lotus Root which is soooo appealing to vegetarians, in a sauce made from a fish sauce? Bad move. I rarely go back.

I’d take or leave the China Buffet King in Vic Square. For £12 you can avail of their all you can eat buffet. Now this kinda thing would be okay with friends if you were mega hungry and a bit skint. I would never go somewhere here with a guy though, making a pig of yourself should only be done near close friends! The thing is the food is pretty average and bland. I’m no really a fan of these places, what’s the point in stuffing your face full of sub-par food until you feel sick just for the sake of good value? Anyway this place is pretty classless, you’ll be jammed in like sardines. It is was it is.

This place realised the severe popularity of China China and has wisely decided to take this kind of experience to the Victoria Square market. The centre gets progressively less elitist as it goes up so the restaurant is well positioned to start cleaning up on the hungry post shopping or pre cinema market! The food is indeed buffet style so once you pay your entry fee you can get yourself as much of your want of all the dishes on display. Don’t be coming here expecting Chinese delicacies and specials: think of this as the greatest hits of Chinese food with the likes of fried rice, chicken balls, prawn toast and the like available for your repeated eating pleasure! The staff are pleasant and attentive, which is good as the restaurant gets very busy and you need some people to exert some calm and control over the place! My favourite thing about this place is that on the menu is that kids prices are not adjusted by age but by height, so if you bring youngsters, advice the tall ones to hunch on their way in!

This place is fantastic if your not looking for quality, but instead have a hankering for literally all the food eaten by the DR Congo. If you prepare well enough, don’t eat for a week, stretch your stomach by drinking 2 litres of water in one go, you can mange the whole food intake of a country. The choice is insane, theres so much of it. Usually at a buffet, I fill up on the first plate and am left grumbling to myself that I didn’t think it through and now can’t enjoy the rest of the choices. But that’s only another reason to come back again.

What a great and fun way to eat, buffets are just fantastic. It is preferable one would starve for a week in preparation of a visit here… its belt busting stuff… be prepared and don’t say I never tell you anything!!! They have every popular Chinese dish on offer here starters, main and desserts… try the sweet and sour chicken it is superb and aromatic duck. When you go to a restaurant you have to pay big bucks to get the duck… but here you can get you fill with as much as you want. My only negative point is that they do cram so many people in here and can get a little claustrophobic. Sorry i just hought of another negative point and which is that you pay is around twelve pounds for the buffet privileged. Lucky you… enjoy!!!

Belfast’s biggest, and Victoria Square’s only, buffet-style Chinese restaurant certainly serves up quite the feast. Choose your table, join the queue and fill your plate from a heady selection of Asian(and some Western) dishes. Favourites such as spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken and singapore noodles sit alongside ever-changing exotic eats like king prawn in chilli garlic, lime and pepper roast pork and mixed veg in oyster sauce. I have reviewed a number of these places in my reviews and none of them have really come out smelling of roses other than the legendary Foo Kin near the University. This place is pretty standard and you will certainly get a decent enough feed at an ok price. I’m not huge into chinese restaurants and this hasn’t really changed my mind. But that being said, I can’t find anything wrong this place that doesn’t have to do with some sort of snobbery in me.

Located on the third floor of Victoria Square this place is fantastic! They do an all day buffet(obviously) but with a difference! Its huge and really well stocked with everything from soup, to curry, sushi, desserts, noodels seafood and fresh fruit. The best thing is that the food always tastes like its just been cooked and not sitting for aa while as you often find with buffets. During the day All You Can Eat is £7.80 per head and in the evening £11.95 per head. And they really dont mind how many times you go up ad fill your plate… much to my delight! Agreat way to try old favourites and new chinese delights all at once! The apple strudel and hot custard is amazing! They even have an ice cream machine for self service!(woo) The restaurant itself is large, covering two floors and very spacious. Great for groups of just two of you. All round the best buffet I’ve ever been to and the food must be tried to be believed! A definate must for fans of the orient and all yo can eat challenge! Great for a bite before hitting the cinema ahich is a mere stone’s throw away!

Went for the first time on Sunday. We were shown to our table, sat down for few minutes and proceeded to join food queue. We then proceeded back to our seats which were given to another couple. We were re-seated and I asked a number of times about our drinks already ordered and hadnt arrived. Eventually we discovered they had been given to the couple who had been given our table. Took some time to get our drinks! However food was great and we enjoyed so would try again in the hope noone is given our table etc!

1st visit to china buffet king on Thursday evening. Where do I atmosphere at all… it was like a canteen and very very nosiy. The food was cold and soggy. even the banana fritters wer soggy and black inside. I mean everything. Very little selection. as we were paying our bill the waiter asked had we enjoyed our meal, my partner said«it was ok» but i said«well actually i didnt, it was cold and soggy, not good at all«he just laughed and walked off. I couldnt believe it… i have been several times to china china both belfast and bangor and it is much much better all round. Great food, fresh and hot and far far better selection. dont waste your money here head to china china and get a far better meal for less money

Have to say the food is average, but the staff is very frienly. The ribs and sliced beef are NOTSOFT at all. May be give it another try next time when go to cinema.?
