I took this fine blade on a date. Thought I’d take her to coco, show her I mean business. Background — had rang about 6 restaurants before hand who were not serving their previous theatre menu. The excellent coco weren’t either but were very accommodating and made an exception which was awesome. The food was average but the service was fantastic. Food on Joe

Ate here with 5 friends before a show in the Waterfront Hall on Saturday 28th November. We were presented with the regular menu and the pre theatre menu to choose from. A variety of cocktails were ordered, the most popular being the passionfruit daquiri. We ordered from the very reasonably priced pre theatre menu. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed starters, mains and desserts. The most popular dishes were, salt and chilli venison for starter, battered hake for main and crème brulé for dessert. Service was fast and servers were friendly and efficient. They arranged taxis for us to the waterfront hall and presented us with a voucher each for«buy one main course get one free» from the pre theatre menu. A great dining experience, will most definitely return to use our vouchers.

Had my Christmas dinner here on Thursday Night and I must say I am thoroughly impressed. The beauty of the décor and the ambience. The 3 course meal was beautiful I had the onion soup which was exquisite, followed by the lamb which just melts in the mouth. My dessert was simple as I love ice cream and it was just enough at the end of the meal. The staff and management are so helpful and happy to meet your need and requirements to the best of their ability. Anyone looking for somewhere beautiful to eat I highly recommend Coco.

Had a great meal celebrating a friend’s birthday. To start I went for beetroot and goats cheese salad, great flavour & nice balance of textures. I also sample a few friend’s starters… the muscles were cooked perfectly nice and soft, great flavour & a very generous portion. Risotto was beautifully cooked and full of flavour however the chicken liver & ham terrine was bland. Everyone was happy with mains, I had wild duck breast, cooked medium rare, skin was crispy with perfectly rendered fat… do order some sides as it only comes with about 4 slices of potato! Steak & venison were also cooked perfectly & very tasty, one friend chose the burger which was massive and definitely value for money. To finish a couple of us had calypso coffee and petit fours… the petit fours were amazing, intense flavours and just enough to feel satisfied at the end of the meal. Wines chosen by the table were all around the £20 mark and very tasty. All in all very pleased with service, atmosphere and food… I will definitely return

Monday pre — theatre lovely menu. Service great. Bit if a glitch with main course but resolved easily. Had cheese board and dessert. Cheeseboard given to us free because of wee glitch. Have recommended to friends.

Despite my researching for a good restaurant, which I’m normally very good at, and not listening to the concierge of the hotel, I chose this place to celebrate my wife’s birthday. BIGMISTAKE!!! I went in to the restaurant the day before to make SPECIAL arrangements: for table, setting, and dessert. They only sat us at the table I requested… NOTHINGELSE!!! When I spoke to the head waiter(also acting as manager) who served us, after the meal, he apologized that they didn’t check, the notes in the book. I had tried to convey hints to both him and the other server during the meal, but to no avail. By the way, service was very slow, and we had long waits between courses. He didn’t even offer to remove the charge for the dessert that we shared(not that I was looking for anything, but it would have been a nice gesture)!!! Food was average in quality. Rocket salad, fritto misto, two turbots, side vegetable, bread charge(€ 4 for bread???), plus dessert came to € 62, plus wine, reasonably priced @ € 26. All in all, listen to the other reviewers, and the hotel concierge, and dine elsewhere. Visited July 2013

As soon as this place opened, I heard a lot of excellent reports and was dying to try it. At the first opportunity, I phoned to book a table on a Monday, for the Friday of that week. The sniffy-sounding bloke on the phone told me that they’d need the table back after an hour and a half. I said no thank you and goodbye. I didn’t think about Coco for the next year until someone suggested recently that we give it a try. This time, we weren’t given a strict curfew. On the odd occasion I eat out(!!), I like very much to go the whole hog — three courses, brandy, coffee, so an hour and a half the first time would’ve been ridiculous. It’s fancy and highly polished, all right. There was a reasonably-priced lunch menu advertised outside, but we there for dinner and it was very expensive. Three courses for two people, bottle of medium-priced red, well over a hundred quid. The seafood dishes are fantastic, to be fair. Just save up for a while before you go, and hopefully nobody tries to kick you out before you’ve had a chance to think about dessert.

Always wanted to have a good excuse to eat here as I’d been told the food was excellent but really pricey. After getting a suitable cause for celebration which involved a small influx of cash I felt it would be try to see for myself. First impressions were that the whole place looked a tad too posh for our scruffy likes but we received a very warm welcome from the staff and were seated quickly. The dining room area out the back was pretty funky and lined with some arty eye-candy and we soon settled into enjoying a great meal. I’m not really sure how to describe the food style as there seemed to be a wee bit of everything in there. Being a fan of calamari I went for the garlic squid which was perfectly cooked and not too heavy on the old garlic which went down well with my companion. Next up was a kind’ve oriental scallops dish which was pretty unbelievable… really superbly presented and the taste was unique. With the wine we had that evening I’m too embarrassed to tell you how much it all cost but as a once in a blue moon treat you definitely can’t beat this place. Pros: Great service and food. Cons: Money, money, money.

Coco is a really cool new restaurant in Belfast and has already won awards! The food is absolutely worth the high price that’s charged. You would struggle to get change from £60 for two people! So definitely not for those of us trying to embrace the student lifestyle! The menu is really nice and the offer things that are a little different from the norm! I got Thai duck pancakes followed by fish. both of which were perfectly cooked and really well presented! I was quite pleased with the portion sizes as well which are normally quite flimsy for a place of this type. The restaurant is funky, modern and contemporary and the glitter ball and artwork really add to the experience of the place! I can definitely understand why this place is being raved about and will defiantly be taking another trip back… once I’ve saved up a bit!

Eek! I have to say this place almost bankrupted me when I went as a lowly naïve student trying to impress a girl on a date. However, the price is definitely justified. I feel disappointed in myself that I focused so much on the price as CoCo is definatley one of the best places I have ever eaten in Belfast. The interior is understated and chic. I say understated, but they do have a big glitter ball on the ceiling. It has cool and interesting artwork throughout the place which anyone would wish was theirs. The menu is locally sourced and seasonal to ensure patrons will always get the best food on offer from Northern Ireland. Overall this place is incredible. The dining experience is unforgettable and should by no means be missed. Be aware of the price but it is certainly worthwhile.

Oh swoon, I really loved my visit to Coco, It was chic, stylish, the food was great and the service top notch. Oh yes, and it was pretty expensive so Coco will probably go on my list of special celebration venues. By expensive I’m talking up to £7 for a starter and £22 for a main course plus another £3 for a side order. But d’ya know what? The prices are justified by the quality and presentation of what you get. I had crab linguine to start and it was just delish and a hefty portion too. Full of rich flavour and pieces of crab meat I could actually see and taste. Main course was whole seared sole which did indeed appear as a whole fish on a plate and was perfectly cooked and seasoned. My husband couldn’t look it in the eye but he’s always been a softie. The interior of the restaurant is very eclectic boutiquey chic and just being there will make you feel stylish too. Good wine list but no bargains but this is an upmarket kind of place. And the really good news — when I went, it was a business dinner with my husband and somenone else paid!

Another Belfast Telegraph £6.95 main course limited offer. Coco isn’t about typical Ulster big feed portions. Instead, the focus is on taste. For example, her Uncle Noël sausages were served with pearl onions and my Baby Hake Fillet with capers. For her, washed down with a glass of Pinot Grigio rose(never heard of that before) — hint of fruit, refreshing, and little aftertaste. I enjoyed a 500ml bottle of Belfast Ale(Whitewater). We went for desserts, which were made fresh. Hers was an apple crumble served with mulled wine ice cream. The crumble was delicious, lots of apple and other bits of fruit. But I couldn’t discern any flavour in the ice cream. My sticky toffee pudding was just that. I loved the great modern pop art paintings on the wall. Tempted by the«Politicians kill» print going for £500. I’d love to see that in some politician’s office(one with a good sense of humour). We’ll gladly return to Coco, but heed the fact that the ordinary prices for their meals are a bit higher. It’s great quality in Belfast city centre, and I’m glad to see it.
