A recently refurbished pub, this place is hidden away from the rest of the world. If you didn’t know it was there you might have an awkward time finding it, as it’s on the corner of the turn of one of the streets off the Antrim Road! Sound complicated? It’s been nicely done up in the traditional wooden style you’d expect from pub over here, and is one of the few pubs that’s right in the middle of a residential street. Regular live music at the weekends, as well as the odd quiz/karaōke. I wouldn’t bother travelling from the city centre to it, but if you’re staying along the Antrim Road it’s worth a visit.

I lived across the street from this bar whilst growing up. It has had a number of revamps and the outside has changed more times than I can remember but its image of being a rough bar has not. The neighbors around it are known to be constantly complaining about the noise and this led to it losing its entertainment license. The actual bar is nicely presented and the staff are polite. It’s just hard to have a drink whilst wondering who you might offend or who’s just peering over at you, wondering whether they’ll start a fight after this pint or the one after. It’s definitely not my cup of tea, but a lot of the locals do make good use of it’s services and I don’t think it’ll be going anywhere soon.
