Saturday lunchtime is perhaps not the best for a visit to Kooky’s. It’s slighty inconspicuous and hard to find when you are looking for it by car, though really cafes need to attract people on foot, which was how I first noticed it, so I suppose that doesn’t matter. A rave review by a newspaper was stuck up beside the door. We had paninis — grilled chilli chicken and tuna and cheddar with salad. There was also bruschetta, in addition to fry ups which are probably the forte here. They ham and brie which were our first choices, had run out. Though our paninis were good, as was the coffee I don’t think it quite lived up to the anticipation that was created by the review. I expect Kooky’s is better during the week when there are more people around.

Any place that does a good fry gets a whopping big score from me. Any place that does a disappointing fry is unfortunately wiped out off the face of the Earth and I will refuse to look at it anytime I am remotely near it. Luckily for Kookys, they did me a great fry and it settled what was quite a powerful little hangover so much so that I was able to face the journey home without having to stop over in any restrooms. They offer a wide menu for such a little place and the food is really rather good. Going out for a fry is one of those«I cant be bothered to cook and my mouth tastes of a cow’s backside and all I want is tea and a fried egg» sort of occasions so for that I will always come to Kookys. If I am to be frightfully honest I think the name is stupid and sounds more like somewhere to look after your children when they don’t want to shop anymore but as far as somewhere to save you from a hangover goes, Kookys is just about the best.
