Since the economic downturn, Lidl has really started to take a market share on the ‘Grocery’ sector, and it’s easy to see why. It’s understated aisles are adorned with cheaper European alternatives to famous UK household names, but you be wrong to assume that the quality is any less. In fact I have found that quite a few products are just as good as their well known counterparts. Lidl also prides itself on being a champion of local produce and I have heard several reports that the fresh produce is without compare in the current supermarket scene. This particular branch has a instore bakery which has fresh bread and buns every day, several times a day.(Cookies are 35p a pop, what’s not to love about that? My only gripe is the checkout. whilst the staff are very friendly, they do tend to let long lines grow and there does not seem to much urgency in letting people pay and be on their way!
