It’s hard to believe that this used to be the point. From the moment you walk in through the doors you are greeted with a modern, funky décor that makes you feel instantly comfortable. The kind of place you normally only find in the city Centre. Attended a Unilocal event here and will definitely return in the near future with the family.

My fiancé and I visited last night(Sunday) as I was lucky enough to win a voucher for a meal here! We had been in the Point years ago and i have to say, I love what they’ve done with the place, it’s been given a refurb and a face-lift outside and totally looks the part! My fiancé, myself, and our little boy, made our way upstairs to the restaurant. Upon arrival we picked a table, got a highchair, and took some menus from the bar. As it was Sunday, they had a Sunday menu on, where you could pick from 1,2 nd 3 courses. I was tempted, but in the end I decided to go for the steak, and my partner went for the ribs. The gentleman came over to take our order, and brought us our drinks. The food came fairly quickly and my steak was done exactly how I’d asked. I opted for the sweet potato wedges, which were quite nice but very greasy. It also came with 2 onion rings which were great. My partner enjoyed his ribs but as a main course, there was very little meat on them making for too small a portion and he went home hungry. The biggest shocker of all however was when we got the bill. Drinks wise, we’d got a soft drink each, and I had a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. The total for the drinks came to £12.95! The Coke and Diet Coke were £4 each! Absolute disgrace guys, sort this out! If I had known that was how much the soft drink was I’d have got another wine as it wasn’t much more expensive. To be honest, although the food was fine, this in itself would genuinely put me off going back. Should be called Stroker’s Halt!

Have been here twice for food and drinks. First time I was there to have a meal the rugby was on and the service was really bad they only had one person serving and had to wait 45minutes to place order and then further 30 min for food to come. Second visit here was considerably better, service was very prompt and visit to the establishment was more enjoyable.

Friday evening drinks… warm and cosy on a chilly Friday night, enjoyed my few glasses of wine. But couldn’t get a seat.

Went here yesterday for a Unilocal event. Generally I wouldn’t venture to this neck of the woods as I would have no reason too. First impressions are great. Lovely fresh décor with great smelling food coming from the kitchens. We didn’t eat from the menu as we were stuffing our faces with cupcakes but definitely come back to sample the goods. Cocktails also looked really good which is a big requirement for me. All in all we had a lovely time at this establishment.

Been here before when it was the Point so decided to call in and see what they had done with the place. We went for dinner on a Monday night, the place was quite busy but that did not stop the staff from being very attentive. The chef came over to speak to us and sent over some soup and fresh bread to sample while we waited. The soup was divine and we couldn’t wait to taste our main course. My friend had the burger whilst I opted for a chicken dish, the food was amazing and the chef talked us into dessert which was the best I’ve had in a long time! All in all a very good food experience and I will definitely be back for more.

Great spot for a pint and craic if you find yourself on a night out in East Belfast! Live music, local craft beers and cool vibes all round!

Stokers Halt is so cute! Previously the Point, it’s had a massive makeover, and it’s looking great. Wasn’t a fan of the Point in it’s day, but of a dive, and the crowd could get a bit rough. They’ve really overhauled it, and turned it into a warm, welcoming and inviting place you would want to spend the evening it. We called in on a Wednesday night to watch the football and whilst not terribly busy there was a good few people just sitting having a drink with friends, reading, eating dinner, or watching the match. All very relaxed! The décor is rustic and they’ve knocked a few walls down, and shifted the bar around which has really opened up the place. I loved their big leather tub chairs and high tables with stools, clearly they have put a lot of money into this place. They have really upped their game in the drinks department, which was a pity for me as I only had a coffee, but it was fresh and tasty, so I was happy enough. The drinks menu was extensive, every type of gin, including my favourite Monkey 47(potent stuff), they have also cocktails at reasonable prices and plenty of craft beers if you consider yourself a beer snob, and if you don’t there are plenty of options for you too. We didn’t have dinner either(we were really very dull last night). But after having a nosy at the menu we vowed to return and have a proper run at it! We were tempted to go up to other people and ask«mind if I take a photo of your burger??» they looked that good! But I don’t think being a Unilocaler would have been a good enough reason, and we would definitely have looked crazy. So watch this space, updated review coming soon!

What an improvement from The Point! The décor, the ambience, the clientele, the drinks, the service. All great. Been here twice in a week. As a ballyhackamore boy in exile, it’s great to see places like this pop up as it’s more ammo for me to convince my girlfriend to move back over from North Belfast. Which is bleak in comparison!

Vast improvement on the point. Nicer atmosphere and good for watching sports. Haven’t eaten there but I’m told it’s good. Over 4 quid for a pint tho!

Nice space, décor and lighting. Staff are nice. Good prices. Could have better descriptions of meals. Not a massive choice of desert.

Do you ever walk in to to a bar and just think, ‘yes, this is me’? Well this happened to me yesterday. After passing The recently opened Stokers Halt a few times I finally made my first visit and I’m so glad I did. There’s a cool, laid back atmosphere in The Stokers Halt, it’s the type of place you could come with a few friends for a catch up or likewise you could could come down with your laptop grab a coffee and take advantage of the free Wifi! I suppose diversity is one of it’s main strengths. Their alcohol menu and craft beer selection is a little different to anything else in the city! You’ll need to have a look at it for yourself to see what I mean. They serve food too, although unfortunately I didn’t have the chance to try any(expect a review update when I do). I’ll definitely be back to the Stokers Halt to try something a little harder than coffee but I already know I am going to be a big fan!
